Some stores still have stock, and the good thing is that this is not a display type item such as a printer or camera where every store has one in inventory that is missing parts and is unsellable. With this item, either a store has a good one, or it has none.
How to find it:
The item you are looking for is SKU 616905 Canon brand accessory kit for Rebel SLR digital cameras. There are two Rebel Bag Kit versions at Staples. The newer one has a different SKU and is completely encased in red cardboard and is still $99.99. The $12.50 clearance version (SKU 616905) is packaged with red cardboard in the center, and at the sides there is clear plastic so you can see the bag. These bags are giant built to hold a Rebel SLR, 2 side lenses and extra items.
Inside the bag of either kit is a Canon SLR battery and a SLR lens filter.
The battery alone is worth more than $12.50.
The bag is badged "Canon Rebel" and is worth more than $12.50.
The filter alone is worth maybe $10?
YMMV in finding stock, but if you do this is fairly hot.

Inventory checker is not going to help here as it will show the availability of the SKU# (the newer one is completely encased in red cardboard and is still $99) rather than the actual clearance item (the $12.50 clearance version is packaged with red cardboard in the center, and at the sides there is clear plastic so you can see the bag). For this you will actually have to go to the store to find it.

Just went to two stores in Sacramento. Manager said item has been out of stock for 5 months. None in both stores I visited.
Best of luck...but I have a feeling this will be hard to find.
I scored on from DFW.. Wow.. it is very nice kit. It is the XTi kit, not the new XSi kit.. The link above to Newegg shows the XT kit, but it is the same. The battery is for the XTi, not the new XSi but anyway it is a very good deal.. Thanks OP!

lucky you. was it in the back, or did they have on shelf?
It was on the shelf.. Man, this thing is exactly what I was looking for, it can also carry a handycam, plus couple of lenses, batteries, memory cards..

none at Fremont, CA (Boscell), and just one non-clearance version in Milpitas, CA. It would have been a good case for my XTI :/

I am a little confused. If the new and older version share the same SKU, why would they ring up at different prices, $99.99 and 12.50?
I have this bag and while I don't usually carry shoulder bags, this is one of the better ones I've seen at this size and price level. Reasonably compact and nice looking.

Don't be.. The SKU for the XTi version is 616905, which is on sale for 12.50. The inventory checker should work on this too. Atleast it worked on the instore inventory checker. I checked the stock from one store and found that the other store has one. Drove there 30 miles, and took it off from the shelf and checked out! The guy at the counter was like wt^&^ The first store had the XSi version on the shelf, but it didn't showed up in the 616905 stock check.
So, Remember, if you see a store has it in stock, don't call.. go there and grab it.. or the employees will keep it for themself..
