I bought several different styles of the 3M command hooks at my local 99 cent only store. They had the picture hanging quick clips model 17505Y, and several other hook styles. They also had 3M mounting tape. The picture hanging command hooks sell on Amazon for $4.49 a package Amazon Link so a good deal at 99 cent only stores. YMMV B&M
Went to a different 99 cent only store and they had 4 different style 3M hooks. The had the large hooks in silver and bronze 1 per package, the smaller white hooks 3 in a package, and the picture hanger hooks 6 in a package. So it looks like this might be at all the 99 cent only stores. Or at least the ones in CA. They also had the Crayola Total Tools Ultimate Cutter seen on AmazonHere
Are these really reliable to hang a picture with? Seems like it would fall if trying to stick to a painted drywall; also since it says it removes cleanly.

KIDDING. I love going to 99c Only and asking the people "How much is this? What about this? And how much is this?" That lasts about 9 seconds before I'm asked to leave.

I go to the 99¢ Only Stores when I'm depressed because shopping is a good cheer up activity. Especially when you know that you won't spend your whole paycheck on stuff you might not need or would have paid more for, for better quality. So a comedian like you Toonvox would have been a welcome addition.

The section I find them a lot in is the Tools aisle. Just in there between other stuff that if you blink, you'd miss, so spend a little time there and enjoy all the cool gadgets there so it won't be a total loss if that particular store didn't get any sent in from the warehouse. Theoretically they can be hung on those plastic strips that hang off of shelves or in little 3M standalone displays but I don't vividly remember any times I have seen them on those things but good looking out just in case you know?

easier to stay with surfaces with non-destructable finishes i.e., glass, plastic, etc.
Also it's based on a weight handlement criteria. If you hang something that weighs over the 3M hook's rated weight allowance, then it definitely will lose it's grip to the wall and come down taking a big chunk of paint with it or leaving some 3M strip behind. His point about priming is valid. If the paint isn't stuck to the wall well, aka the prep work and/or primer then yes, it can fall prematurely. Only as strong as the weakest link you know. And if the paint doesn't want to stick to the wall already, then there's no use sticking it to something that already wants to come off. Hope the info helps. I have always loved this store and the hangers are the best finds I have come across there in recent times.
I found them in the hardware asile about midway down. I had heard they were there and was going to purchase them at Target for 4+ a pack so decided to stop and see if I could find them att 99cent only store first. It took a little searching but I found them in the hardware aisle.
I have found them to be quite strong. They were stronger than I thought they could be and have hung a variety of theings with them. The 3M mounting tape is extremely strong. I used it to mount wood letters in my sons nursery. When we moved and I had to take the letters down the mounting tape took some of the paint down along with it.
