I picked up this phone yesterday. Online it is listed for $60. Here is the link to same phone on Amazon. Price there when I just checked was ~$56.

Target also had the 3 handset version for $65 (which is available online) but not as good a deal.

I think B&M also had 4 handset version but I don't recall price (except it was a better deal than 3 handset version).

Beware, they also had some of the tg93xx phones on sale and those are notorious for problems (I returned a set myself).

This was in Eastern PA. They were not on clearance (maybe the tag said Temporary Price Reduction, I don't remember).

TG1033 at Fry's $49.99 Free ship

Talljay,

Why did you return your tg93xx phones? I have a set of 9333 phones that have fantastic features, but work like crap. Half the time they power down when I go to pick up a call and tell me to charge the phone for 7 hours, even though it's been in the cradle for a week. The other half the time they say no connection to base, reconnect.

I love the feature set, but can't rely on these phones if I ever had to call 911. I wouldn't be able to wait for them to get their shorts out of a bunch and work right.

There is a set of 9344's on sale at Staples tomorrow and I wonder if they would have the same issues? What do you think?

That is EXACTLY why I returned them. The 9344 are the exact same chips internally. I've read on another forum that replacing the batteries with better NiMh batteries will correct things but I did not try that myself.

Thanks, Tall Jay. Panasonic used to be the class act of cordless phones, but I see similar problems with all their phones listed on various review sites. I see in addition to the 1xxx and 9xxx phones, they also have 6xxx and 7xxx. Any idea how pervasive the problem is in the other models?

My friend has had a 6xxx series without problems. I haven't had problems with the 1xxx series for the whopping 3 days I've had it.

From what I've read, the 9xxx series had the worst problems.
