I just got back from Macy's a few hours ago. Personally I thought it was a great deal. Got 4 King sized pillows for 19.98+tax (1.95 for me here in California). I bought firm pillows but there were medium and soft ones. Its the same price for Queens/Standard sized as well as Kings. The pillows are the Calvin Klein Signature Gusseted Pillow. Here's the catch. They were originally $36 each. There's a sign that says BUY ONE PILLOW GET SECOND PILLOW FREE right above a list of Queen/Standard and King sized pillows original price (basically $18 each). Where I went, Fox Hills Mall in Culver City, CA, there was another sign next to it that says $9.99. One of the signs was obviously an older sales promotion they had. I wanted 4 pillows anyway so I grabbed 4. Went up to the counter and the woman rang up 4 @ $9.99 each. I politely mentioned I thought it was buy one get second one free from the signs by the pillows. She asked me to show her the sign and I did. We went over to where the signs were and I showed her everything, including the old price, new price, and BOGO promotion. She initially said the BOGO is the old promotion, but I responded to her saying I dont know that, the tag doesnt say anything about old or new promotion. She said she'd have to go ask the manager, which she did. The manager started to fight it but I told her what was said on the tags. She went over to look and 5 seconds later she told the sale's clerk to just ring me up for that price and to take the old tags down. I only saw her take 1 tag down (there was 2). I thanked her for her help, she smiled and said she just had to ask because price adjustments needed the manager's approval. There might be some Macy's that are up to date, while others that leave old tags on. Give it a try, doesnt hurt to ask POLITELY, unless hostility works for you. Hope this helps some people save some money. |
