If this was the black and decker of old, this would be a good deal. What used to be called B&D is now called DeWalt, and B&D nowadays is just Chinese low-end crap on par with harbor freight, northern tools. Now don't get me wrong, I have some good chinese made powertools, but they aren't B&D. With B&D, like HF, you have to evaluate every tool individually...because quality is generally bad...but you might find the occasional gem.
I'd take Ryobi or a store brand like Craftsman over B&D anyday...they're usually priced similarly. This one looks a bit better:
Learn something new every day. Thanks for the input, glenatuf; not having been in the tool market for quite awhile, I'm sad to learn that B&D has basically died.

Kudos for the Kawasaki... and here I thought they just made motorcycles! (I was really impressed with their service last year. DH bought a 2006 Kawasaki that had never been ridden, and we found the tank leaked. It took less considerably than the three months Kawasaki estimated to track down a brand new tank replacement for that exact bike.)
