Ok so this link has been posted before for a X301 deal, but now they have a good deal on the X200s
Copy and Paste: shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/adw/StdAffinityPortal/en_US/StdAffinity:Home?ome=adw&affinity=adw
Click on the black banner that says "save up to 50% blah blah blah", it will take you to the page where you will see a basic X200s starting at $699. When you click to customize it, it should have the following config:
Intel Core 2 Duo processor SU9400 (1.4GHz, 3MB L2, 800MHz FSB) Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic 12.1 WXGA (1280x800), 3x3 UltraConnect II antenna 2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM) TrackPoint 250GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm 3-1 Media Card Reader without Modem ThinkPad WiFi (BGN) ThinkPad X200 Series 4 cell Li-Ion Battery Country Pack North America with Line cord & 65W AC adapter 1 year warranty
THIS IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR WINDOWS 7. But you can choose Vista Premium for $49 more to get it.
YMMV part: I called the number on top of the page, and spoke to a CS about it, and he offered to upgrade memory to 3GB and battery to 6 cell for $25 more, so about a saving of 20 bucks. He also mentioned that they might be able to get other cheaper upgrades, i.e. pricing from another store front (CPP and whatnot), but again YMMV.
If you want to buy online you must use an AMEX card, but when i called the CS said I can use other credit cards if I choose to buy over the phone. Do remember that AMEX provides another year of warranty though.
Bought an X200S last week through CPP + 7% off CPP coupon, and alas, it looks like this deal (w/5% off) is better by that 5% off (at least before tax and shipping...I assume shipping is free?) (Just in case...this was for the 1.86Ghz processor, 4GB of RAM, even though it's overkill, 9 cell battery, 160GB 7200, upgrade to 3 year warranty, just to name a few things)
Too bad. I wish I could reorder (not only would I have saved money, but I would have dropped the fingerprint reader option), but the laptop is already on its way.
attgig said: one thing with x200's... no touchpad.Yea... so sad! I've waited for years hoping they would add a track pad.
But a solution is just around the corner for Lenovo fans.
"The latest machine to make the scene is the Lenovo IdeaPad U150, which has an 11.6 inch display, an Intel Core 2 Duo dual core ULV processor, 2GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive, and Intel GMA X4500 graphics."
Has some new features too, like Multi-touch and built-in G3 wireless. Might even be available in a few days with the intro of System 7 since the U150 Users Manual is already available at Lenovo's website.
BTW: Nice price and nice posting for this X200s with an SU9400. I think the U150 will have SU4100 & SU7300 options. Both slower.
could you do a network install? if you have another computer with a dvd drive, connect to it via network. it'll definitely be slower, but you won't have to buy anything.
