I think this promotion is better then their VIP nights.
richardyc said: too bad all their wall ovens mostly get 3stars rating from actual owners, maybe that's why they need to sell them at half off. That's not the reason of the sale for sure. There are a lot of factors behind their reviews, which we don't know and may or not make the review biased. Whirlpool makes most of these Kenmores, Kitchenaids, Jennairs, & Maytags. So its basically one manufacturer which is branded for people like yourself
Kiki, will this sale cover built-in MICROWAVES, as well? and can I use my Dealpass Sears giftcards on this? I need a new built-in microwave and almost gagged at the installation cost ($170). I was planning on getting either a GE or a Frigidaire but this would become almost irresistable if I could chop off even 40% of the price of a $600 Kenmore. Lastly, I gather this will be in-store? I don't need to put this order together online? Thanks!

TYTBUDGET Currently in gas Oven Hell lol
I just bought OTC microwave (Samsung SMH9187). Microwave cost $240. Sears installation $159.95 (with external venting). I went through www.servicemagic.com and got two quotes for independent installers. Both came in at $95. Chose one and he did a great job (in Atlanta). So cut the middleman out and find an appliance installer. I wish I could cut out servicemagic.com also but it was so easy. BTW, if you have never seen this done before and want to do the installation yourself, you will need at least two individuals and one of them really well built.
TYTBUDGET, Not sure about built microwaves yet. Another way is to get a table top microwave, put it in your wall's empty spot and a trim kit for it. The trim kits run around $79 - $120 for 27" and 30" sizes. It gives built-in look, yet at cheaper price. Hope it makes sense? I think you'll be able to order them online too. It is going to be national sale no YMMV. I think you should be able to use your gift cards ( don't know what dealpass is).

You may lose external venting using this solution if that is important to you. it was to me.
I just hope Sears doesn't do "jack-up the price an offer discount" bs as it has been prone to do so lately. I really need a drop-in cooking range. BTW does any one know how Whirlpool Gold compares to Kenmore Elite?
doublehelix747 said: BTW, if you have never seen this done before and want to do the installation yourself, you will need at least two individuals and one of them really well built. DH I had to laugh reading this, although at the time it was not fun heh. Read on . . .
So my 20-year old GE Microwave finally died. This was the one that came with my house when I bought it new and was installed over my stove (built in to the surrounding cabinets just so we have everyone on the same page). I have no available counter space even if I wanted to get a countertop model; no, it has to go over the stove.
Now, I consider myself the kind of gal who can do just about anything (other than plumbing! never again! aaack!) just about anything when it comes to working with tools. I have a Stihl® chainsaw and am regularly cutting down 100+ FT trees. I use my circular saw fairly regularly. My Milwaukee drill. I like tools.
So Old Reliable finally gave up the ghost one insufferably hot day this past summer, and I looked at it and said "Shit, this is nothing. It has to be attached to the wall somewhere, right? I'll have this down in about half an hour." and figured I'd get an early start before the temperature approached the 90's.
By 3 PM the next day — sweaty, angry, and above all HOT — I had managed to get the vent cover off to see where the crown jewels holding the unit in place were hiding . . . and almost nothing else. After unscrewing about the 20th screw, and at one point pulling so hard on the #!%#&*#$! handle I actually ripped it off the door , I decided to execute Plan B. Plan B was to locate the manual for this microwave, appreciating that by now science could probably only carbon date it. Correct. I couldn't find it. Plan C.Plan C was to hunt down the manual on the internet. I managed to find it, but it was one of those "All-In-One Graphics" manuals. You've seen the type: the parts are presented as a sandwich, with miniature arrows attempting to guide what no human brain could possibly conceptualize, including Einstein's. Too expensive to include 10 additional pages of expanded schematics? GE was running out of ink? Perhaps Ink Rationing was in effect? Jesus wept. Plan D.
Now, in case anyone wonders why it's always "D" I'll tell you: The "D" is for Desperate.
Desperate is when you go on the internet and beg others to help you. See, you're Dependent upon the kindness of strangers. I knew you'd appreciate my explaining that.
Let's just say that hours of research later I came to the conclusion that this job rates as one of the most singularly nasty home repair jobs ever contrived. I read so many horror stories — from men! men who, between sometimes 3 of them — could not get their built-in microwave detached from the wall let alone begin to contemplate how to install the new one! With something like horror on my face, I told friends that I would rather fork over than ever be subjected to this repair job ever again for as long as I live!!! I'd rather have a root canal that attempt this!
I take your point about shopping around for the install, but I frankly consider this the price of labor . . . and they just happen to throw the microwave in free heh heh.

First, thanks OP!
My existing wall oven (still the original installed when the house was built in 1966/1967) is not vented. Have building codes changed (I'm in California), and should I look into venting if I change it out? That would certainly make this a bigger job.

My house was built in 1988 (California) and, while the current microwave doesn't have a vent, the last thing I want is for my house to get out of code. For $170 they better damn well put that vent in or there goes my refi!! Seriously, other than that I could give a vent lol.

I can't imagine $170 covering putting in a vent where one doesn't exist, considering that it would require putting the required hardware through the roof.

Checked cooktop prices online and while the banner ad is active - the prices do not reflect 30% off -- and even though it says in stock, when you try to add it to your cart it says out of stock for delivery and in store.
Thanks OP - got a Kenmore Elite 30" White drop-in range for $1139. Original price is $1899, normally it retails at $1500-$1650 (I have been following this like a shark for some time). Free delivery after rebate. So I think I saved around $400-500! My not-so-wallet thanks you!

Would you be able to confirm if you see this price on the same model online? I am not seeing this percentage off on the online models. Thanks!

put it in the cart, then go to your cart to see discount

I see it. Thank you! Very strange. I thought they would be advertising the lower price as soon as someone starts looking at the inventory - specially if you were going to offer the lower price in the cart anyways. Not displaying the lower price may turn off some online shoppers... Thanks for the quick reply!

Back when I was doing research for a new range, I remember coming to the conclusion that Whirlpool Gold and Kenmore Elite were comparable, but I seem to recall that the Whirlpool Golds had better reviews overall. We have a Kenmore Elite dishwasher, and it's been fantastic -- best one we've ever had. (On the range, I managed to find an Electrolux for about $1000 off the regular price so I bypassed WG and KE.)
I bit on this one. I think the deal is good, for built in ovens and ranges. Unfortunately they do not have a combo oven / microwave that I wanted (the one they do have is not a convection oven). Combined with free deliver (FAR), this is a pretty good deal.

I had forgotten Bing 8% Cash Back when I first placed this order. So canceled and reordered - got $91.19 in Bing Cash Back! Smoking hot, I think, at this point.

Anybody knows how often Sears run this kind of sale, I am very interested but I have not closed my house yet. If I just order now and ask them to deliever later, is there a way I can back out if I could not close the house.(Or if the size is wrong)

They did the 50% off wall ovens about 6 mos ago. Sure you can have them deliver it later or return it for a refund. Measure first if possible to make sure it fits. Did this last time and they only had one of the top of line double oven kenmore available. It was damaged so they gave us a much better Kitchenaid for the same price. Check your sales tax laws. In TN there is no tax charged on built in appliances that are installed, so it is less expensive to have Sears install than to pay tax and install yourself.
sg707 said: Just checked bing, how did you get 8% offer?
It was yesterday. Just searched for "appliances" and link to Sears appeared on the right hand side. I have not received email from Microsoft yet, but the Bing Cash Back logo was there throughout the transaction and last page had the Cash Back amount listed as well. I am wondering if it has to do with my delivery date being sometime next month. In any case, I would send them an email in a day or two.

Make sure you get an extended warranty... I had my Kenmore Elite wall oven (which I installed) crap out about 3 months after the purchase... 5 trips from the repair guys to find out the heating element on the bottom had crapped out...
When they finally replaced it, I asked how much for the part, if it was not under warranty.. 130bux.. what a rip..
And NEVER put tin foil or anything else for that matter on the bottom (wife melted a huge piece permanently to the base of the oven )
festisio said: And NEVER put tin foil or anything else for that matter on the bottom (wife melted a huge piece permanently to the base of the oven ) Ouch. Was that a convection oven or a microwave? And I ditto the comment about the extended warranties. It's sad it's come to this but you pretty much have to buy one on any large appliance manufactured this century tsk.

... from squaretrade... so much cheaper, less hassle per claim.
Thanks for the SquareTrade tip. Their quote was over 40% below Sears. I chatted with a rep online and he offered up a 30% coupon to apply to the quote. Nice!
