I could be wrong but I couldn't find that this mobo supports aac in the bios to unlock the second core on the sempron which maybe the reason for all the red? I guess the question is to spend more money on the unlocking mobo or the better cpu.

if that is the red then some fatwalleters and delusional because there is no guarantee that you will unlock a second core and that it will be stable.
I agree that for a little more money to go with the dual core but not bad deal if you only need the sempron
Ya...just looking for something to stuff in a cheap micro-atx box to run FREE-NAS. Wish I could find something even cheaper...but haven't seen it lately.
This is great deal for those looking for the cheapest possible combo. However, IMO the gigabyte 785G combo from Newegg is a better value considering that it offers a much better upgrade path. It has a built in ATI 4200 chipset, hdmi output, optical out, esata ports, and 4 memory slots compared to the Biostar MB. I think the better features of the Gigabyte MB alone warrant the ~$25 difference (assuming $70 for the frys combo) esp if you plan to use it as a HTPC build. The ability to unlock the Sempron (with a relatively high success rate) with the 785G is just icing on the cake.

Yep agree as I got the same deal thru Newegg. And Newegg deal also include CPU fan and has the right chip set to allow unlocking the 2nd cores (provided that it functions and not defective).
Also no tax, free shipping and rebate troubles too. That said it's easier to return to local Fry's as long as line is not too long...
