Wal-Mart Stores Inc. announced Thursday that its online site, WalMart.com, would charge just $10, with free shipping, for such upcoming hardcover releases as John Grisham's "Ford County," a cut of 60 percent or more from the regular cost.
Amazon.com, the leading online book seller, has responded, also slashing its price to $10 for "Going Rogue," "Ford County," Michael Crichton's "Pirate Latitudes" and other leading pre-orders.
"Our newest offering -- the Top 10 pre-selling books at just $10, with free home delivery -- is a true reflection of this commitment to better help our customers shop and save money online, just in time for the approaching holiday season."

2) Who reads the crap that WalMart evidently has on sale anyway? It's only the top 10 pre-orders that WalMart and Amazon offer this cheap. But I guess you're only interested in books that no one else wants to read.

It's not a hot deal if it's a crappy hardcover book. If you're looking for the best price on "a hardcover book", you can find one for $3 at the clearance aisle at Barnes and Noble.

Books that no one else wants to read? Just because I don't want to read books that "everyone" wants to read does not imply that no one else wants to read the books that I read. Not that it really matters or anything.
As Mossketeer said, Amazon also offers the same price on these pre-orders. Unless you have an enticing reason to use WalMart's site, I would go with Amazon: most likely faster shipping, and less evil than WalMart.

Hey welcome to Fatwallet new member. Now stop thread crapping. If you don't want these books at 10 dollars, don't buy them. For everyone else, this price war is a deal.

Nice deal OP. I just logged in to post it but you beat me to it. Ignore the troll: you don't have to like every deal that's posted but you can at least voice your opinion in a way that is respectful to others, not assume that everyone shares your opinion or, better yet, not say anything at all.
