Geeks.com has the refurbed iPod Touch 32GB 2nd Generation model for $230. Use a certain coupon (F*TWALLET) during checkout to get an additional 10% off making it $207. Shipping was $9 for me so total cost was $216.
Geeks calls used equipment 'refurbished'. Its not. Certainly nothing like what you'd expect from Apple. Their refurbished stuff looks like new and has new batteries in it.
To be sure, to each their own. I just object to the use of the term 'refurbished' when the proper term is 'used' or perhaps 'recertified'. I think its dishonest. When you buy something refurbished, you expect it to look and operate pretty close to 'like new' except maybe a minor cosmetic issue like a scratch or scrape.
For a few bucks more you can get the apple refurb with a long warranty and you know you're going to get something that looks like new and has a new battery in it. If the $20-30 turns the deal for you, wait a couple of months and the apple refurb will be $20-30 cheaper.
Buy this from Geeks and it craps out on you 6-8 months from now, you're SOL. Its a throwaway.
I'd only consider this if I could get a SquareDeal Warranty on it, like I did on the one I wooted for my son last spring. 32GB on this one is nice though.
