Amazon third party, myBatterySupplier is having sale on their eneloop AAA pre-charged batteries, 4pak for $10.99 and free shipping too. These are "real" eneloop, "the one". myBatterySupplier have 99% positive rating. Eneloop is classified as LSD (Low Self Discharge). Others in this class include Duracell Pre-charged and Rayovac Hybrid. Eneloop has longer history and proven leader of the pack. Newer ones which have NOT hit USA market, only Japan market in Nov 2009.
These numbers makes eneloop the market leader. Current Eneloop Version HR-3UTG (AA) HR-4UTG (AAA) 1000 charge cycle 85% charge after 12 months storage
Newer Eneloop Version HR-3UTGA (AA) HR-4UTGA (AAA) 1500 charge cycle 75% charge after THREE YEARS storage
This is good deal for people who don't want to spend more than $50 for free shipping or do not want to wait for bing CashBack.
Update: Added Costco info for those interested: The costco in San Francisco Bay area do not have any eneloop, I checked all 6 costco at south bay....nada, zero...thus my quest to find eneloop elsewhere. Costco here only sells duracell pre-charged in two types of packaging, around $19 each, either 4AA+4AAA+charger ...or... 8AA+2AAA. Additionally bay area tax is 9.25% tax for these items.
Costco in other areas may have eneloop, packaging 8AA+2AAA+charger+C&D_adapters, ranging from $19-25. They maybe/may-not- be in stock, or in -sale-, tax still applies, AND contains only TWO AAA. This Amazon myBatterySupplier deal is a good supplement to the costco deal because AAA batteries. (assuming you need more AAA).
Rumour: Costco, San Jose, Senter Road ??? MAY have enloop? (but only TWO AAA enelop per package) Some claim that Duracell pre-charged white top made in Japan are eneloop rebranded. Black top duracell precharged are generally China made, -not- considered eneloop rebranded
I looked for eneloop at costco listed below in San Francsico Bay area, but they do NOT have any eneloop: San Jose, CA (1709 Automation Pkwy) Oct 17, 2009 Mountain View, CA (1000 N Rengstorff Ave) oct 16, 2009 Fremont, CA (Pacific Commons Blvd, near automall parkway) oct 14, 2009 Sunnyvale, CA (Lawrence Station Road) oct 14, 2009 Santa Clara, CA (coleman ave) oct 14, 2009
For charger, most popular are La Crosse Technology BC-700 (~$30), La Crosse BC-9009 (~$40) and Maha Powerex MH-C9000 (~$50). Recommended due to their capability to INDIVIDUALLY charge, discharge, monitor battery. Note that only "regular" rechargeable batteries comes with BC-9009, ie. not the same class as eneloop.
What's the difference between that item and this? Descriptions are the same, but two cent price difference and product number slightly different in the beginning (HR vs. GES. Anybody know if there is a difference in function?
If you want to save some money, you can opt for the following: $30 LaCrosse BC-700
I have the BC-900 and hardly use the fast charging mode. I always discharge and charge at 200mAh. When the battery is charged and doesn't display near its advertised rating, I do a refresh.

thedreamer2 said: The one you linked is the 750 mAh capacity. It is a bit confusing as there are 3 links for these eneloops (two of them are same - 800 mAh; go for them). The price now shows up as $10.95 for the 800 mAh while $10.97 for the 750 mAh one.
I noticed that too. That seems very odd. The AA's are 2000mah if I remember correctly. Makes me hesitate to buy these.
Costco in La Mesa, CA only had two packs left last Saturday, priced at 19.99.

Is there a way to check Costco local inventory?

The AAA's are usually 1000mAh or 1100mAH for regular rechargeables but around 800mAh for the pre-charged ones. Same way as AAs are 2650mAH for regular ones but upto 2000mAh for pre-charged ones like the eneloops. I believe that's the highest capacity for the precharged ones - "4-pack of 800 mAh rechargeable AAA batteries"

Best one there is as per several online ratings, friends' experiences, and personal experience.Maha MH-C9000 AA/AAA Smart Charger/Analyzer:
Spend the $50 now on a quality Charger/Analyzer or spend it over time on short-lived, prematurely damaged cells. Whether or not it's worth it to YOU depends on your rechargeable cell investment - for a handful of cells used infrequently, the (practically FREE) Sanyo MQN06 Charger included in the Costco $20 Kit will serve you almost as well. Not true. Senter Rd., San Jose, Costco still had 8-10 eneloops a few days ago. They also had blacktop Duracell's (no charger), 8AA + 2AAA, for $18.xx which said MIJ even though it was blacktop.

Well, they certainly had at least 8-10 for $19.99 on Oct 16th, which is when I had gone there. In fact I had purchased one a few days ago and bought another one on 10/16. Hopefully some are still left for you since they didn't seem to be moving much at that location. They were right next to some panasonic batteries in one of the regular aisles on your left as you enter Costco. Duracells are more in the middle area, so don't look for eneloops there.
Thanks YumRaj for the info. My preference is for eneloop. The costco eneloop package only contains 2 AAA. This deal can actually complement the costco package for my AAA needs.

I bought a pack of AAA eneloops for 9.99 at Frys in 2007 and it wasn't a deal back then. I though they'd come down in price over time, but now even a deal price is higher? Things are not going well...
I suspected supply and demand. Eneloop is the top leader, and commanded premium pricing. Others newer competitor have yet to prove their product over time, it's rechargable batteries after all. Competitors in LSD (Low Self Discharge) include Duracell pre-charged and Rayovac hybrid. Price of energy has increased recently, creating more demand using rechargable concept...
There should be newer/better types of batteries technology hitting the market next 3 years. Should be interesting

Just in case someone wonders how the Eneloops are charged for the first time
