Borderlands is also a new genre of game--it's a RPS; a combination of role-playing (RP) and first person shooter (FPS). Up to four players can play cooperatively online.
The PS3 and XBOX versions release 10/20/2009. The msrp for those are $59.99, and the Amazon pre-order price is $58.99. Definitely not such a hot deal for the console versions!
Edit: If you don't care about owning the disc and box, etc. Steam has the PC version on pre-sale for $44.99 or a four-pack for $134.97 so you and three friends can jump right in with guns (over 600,000 of them!!) blazing.
