Wouldn't a better deal be at Newegg for the LG version for $28 shipped

New Egg Link

For the extra $3 you get a 4GB SD Card, too.

The Samsung considered one of, if not the best burners out there..

Anyone know how loud these drives get? My current drive is very loud and very annoying

thanks, I was looking at this on Newegg this morning, glad I saw this thread when I got back, just ordered one thanks

no offense to sivart, but I was reading reviews of that LG drive and apparently it has built in adware and is pretty bad

It's not adware

It's a software from LG and can be removed.

Its a good deal on a burner now, i have been paying more lately

really sucks how ram and optical drives have gone up on us recently. Bogus pricing.

4GB DDR2 ram 2-3 months ago 20AR or 40$, now 40AR or 65-70.

DVD+-RW drives were 20.99-22.99 shipped always, now tough to find for 28$ shipped

A weak dollar equals a flat tax on everyone

I bought 2 of these drives in IDE as open box deals from Newegg a few seeks ago for $14.99 each. A friend wanted to upgrade so I ordered them. I liked them so much I kept them for myself and of course had to order him another one at full price. I just got my shipment of 4 more yesterday. I paid $29.99 for them. Newegg had this drive in the sata format cheaper than the IDE last week.

I was using an old NEC that has never given a minutes trouble but these drives are so much faster. I only use them to rip and burn movies but they are a lot faster than the old drive. And they are very quiet too.

Definitely a buy if you're in the market.

Too bad this drive won't do lightscribe.

My legendary benq finally gave up... would this drive live up to it?

This is a good deal.
I got the LS version for $15 the last time around AR, ACB.

ZZF has the Lightscribe model available with an instant $5 rebate and a $15 MIR, making the final cost $23.99, also with free shipping.

Here is the page, if anyone is interested.

I'm surprised that there is so much interest in a drive that does not burn DL, are DL discs still prohibitively expensive ?

I rarely burn DVD's anymore and DL even less. Personally I just need an optical drive that burns CD's and reads DVD's well.

It does burn DL. Go look at the specs listed on the ZZF site.

Good call...DVD-R DL Write at 12X & DVD+R DL Write at 22X.

I've never burned a DL disc, it isn't a priority for me. Check out this Neweggage: OEM Samsung SH-S223C DVD burner and a 4 GB Kingston MicroSD card for $25.99 with free shipping:

Nice deal... any difference between SH-S223B and SH-S223C ?

haridsv said: Nice deal... any difference between SH-S223B and SH-S223C ?

The SH-S223B (ZZF) is able to burn Dual Layer DVD while the SH-223C (Egg) cannot.

Which is the part number of Kingston 4GB Micro SD card? There isn't a mentioning of such a bundle on that page.

Thanks for pointing that out. I do need DL support, I had to use that media about 4 times so far because the content wouldn't fit in a single layer.

I also do not see the 4GB Micro SD card mentioned, or any combo deals. If you could add any additional info it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Appears the free SD part is dead.

Newegg removed the MicroSD card from the bundle. The deal is discussed in this thread. According to some linkers the SH-S223C can burn DL, though I'm not counting on it. The days of the $20-$22 delivered DVD burner seem to be over just like cheap DDR2 RAM. Anything under $28 isn't bad these days.

Coupon code is still working ! - just ordered 3X for $24.99 each

Thanks for the alert... finally went ahead and ordered one.

Two dealer pages show the CD-RW burn spec as 4x??? Why is that in particular so slow?

Just noticed the other thread on the Newegg deal has a link for the "C" model, and it is 32X for CD-RW burn there.

Samsung Specs

Perhaps this samsung site will help as far as the specs on the various models

thanks!

code still works!

THe SH-S223C is now 20.99 AR at ZZF:

Does it do booktype setting?

you don't need booktype, use dvd-r discs.

thanks for the updated pricing!

that is not correct:

- WRITE : DVD 4.7GB(DVD±R, DVD±RW, DVD-RAM)
DVD 8.5GB(DVD±R DL), CD-R, CD-RW

http://www.samsungodd.com/Eng/Products/Spec/spec.asp?functionval...

this latest zzf deal is for the SH-223C.

Yes, it's hard to believe any new model DVD burner these days not being able to burn DL media.

Skipping 3 Messages...

and the SH-223L for $25

bumping my own thread
