Hot Deal?? I think not, there are better deals everyday on here... On top of the very basic/min specs, it only comes with Vista Basic which will be obsolete tomorrow....
Intel 1.6GHz Celeron processor 2GB DDR2 667/800 MHz SDRAM (dual-channel support on two DIMMs) 160GB Serial ATA hard drive 18x DVD±R/RW SuperMulti drive featuring Labelflash Multi-in-one card reader with two USB ports NVIDIA® GeForce® 7050 Chipset 10/100 Ethernet Embedded high-definition audio with 7.1-channel audio support 6 USB 2.0 ports, 2 in front 4 in rear
I agree that the description is dumb as all get out - Woot is putting this PC down more than it deserves. The Celeron processor is more than capable of the web surfing/office apps/basic "stuff" that most people do with their PCs. This one has a DVD burner, card reader and ample RAM to run Vista and the price is cheap. Plus personally eMachines isn't the carp PC that so many people think it is.
IMHO $200 is a decent deal.... I'd rather buy this than a used PC for similar money.

I agree 100%, if I needed a desktop I'd consider this in a heartbeat.

I mean, who the hell do they have writing up the descriptions there? Inmates?
The disclaimer about literary point of view!? What nonsense!!! Who are these fools?
The fool in this case would be: you. Woot has excellent deals, excellent customer service. Where have you been for the past few years? Ah, it appears you're new 'here' as well. Sometimes it's good to learn before speaking.
I did find the description amusing as well. This machine may be fine for grandma though. But I got a refurbished, fairly modern Dell for only $250 delivered and it came with 4 gigs of RAM. In light of that, I would say this machine is worth maybe $100. Just my 2 cents...

It has no reference to the age of the processor, it you know your processors. Unless I'm mistaken, this 1.6 GHZ celeron is single core. The current top of the line models are quad/8x core cpu's each running at 1.6GHz. BIG difference! As a comparison, my 3GHz Celeron D desktop (also eMachines coincidentally) was purchased for less than $100 4 years ago, so this deal is very meh...
The 512mb cache is pretty weak, not to mention its a celeron. . .I agree with markbyte. Good for the net and listening to music--but not at the same time.
