Bay Area Fry's stores (and possibly other markets) advertises an Intel Celeron E3200 and an MSI G31M3-F V2 motherboard for $59.99 after a $10 mail in rebate.

The price is good through Thursday, October 22nd. It is not clear whether the CPU is retail or OEM, and also, I'd call before dropping by, Fry's has been very poor at keeping anything in stock that is a particularly good deal the last few months.

Long gone are the days in which Fry's routinely had the best CPU/mobo combos. Lately pickings have been rather slim. This deal harkens back to those glory days. The CPU is not your father's Celeron, it is a dual core 45nm 800 MHz FSB Wolfdale running at 2.4 GHz released in Q3 2009. It is rated at 64W TDP. Some folks have been hitting 4.4 GHz with air cooling with this processor, though of course YMMV. Even if you don't overclock this thing is equal to about a Intel Pentium E5300 at 2.6 GHz or an AMD Athlon64 X2 4400. The board accepts DDR2 memory and has onboard Intel G31/ICH7 onboard video.

My E3200 hits 3.55GHz at stock voltage. Vcore is not adjustable with this board. Fortunately, this board can easily hit 400MHz with a capable CPU. I see a lot of United Chemicon and Matsushita caps. There are seven OST "RLA" capacitors around the CPU socket, and two more next to the audio chip.
