Yes, the Staples deal was cheaper, but was a bigger hassle if you didn't already have a coupon. This deal is easier IF you are a costco member - if not, there is a $6.75 surcharge.
Sounds like a good price but does anyone think that this deal will get better with time? If the MSRP is only $150 then I would think that other specials are coming. I smell black friday specials.

any links or sources for more detail or discussion on this?

Wish I knew about the B&M deal sooner. My Amazon pre-order ($50 x 3) just shipped and I won't even get it for another week
Edit: Actually it doesn't even *ship* until monday, so it won't get here (east coast) until November. And Amazon won't let me cancel it (on Friday) Argh...

There was a thread started by a Moderator on Anandtech forums about that, discussing that.
I posted a thread stating that you can upgrade from the RC1, using the clean install technique, to Retail Upgrade Win7, and my thread was deleted and I was banned.
Even though there was an existing thread stating that, and stating that such an upgrade was not just possible, but legal as well.
Anandtech Moderators are XXX. Well, some of them, anyways.
Edit: Except for MarkFW900.
Edit: It looks like I'm not the only one. Google "Anandtech Nazi", and see what comes up.
We paid $120 at Staples.com which is the cheapest we've seen.

I already ordered from Costco online yesterday for $134.99. I wish I had waited. Can my local B&M costco refund me the difference?

any links or sources for more detail or discussion on this? It turns out that it's not necessarily as simple as the early reports led me to believe. In some cases it won't be, apparently, but the worst case is still pretty simple, as it's just a Registry change, single command, and reboot before activation will work: http://community.winsupersite.com/blogs/paul/archive/2009/10/23/...
Now an illustrated guide: http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp

When Windows Philadelphia (version 8.3, 128 bit or 256 bit) comes out in Sprint 2012, there may be a slight drop in price

I attended the Windows IT conference and received a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate but it is only 32 bit. Can anyone here help me understand how to go the 64 bit version?
Thanks,

I could be wrong, but everything I've read is the keys are NOT specific for 32 or 64. So all you may need is to borrow a 64 bit install disk (for the matching license type).

I'm having a hard time finding out any gotchas with the family pack. I've got 3 PCs in the family but 2 are for minor children who will be moving out within the likely lifespan of Win 7. All I can find about the Family pack is it contains one disk but three licenses. I suspect that when the PCs move out the EULA probably says those licenses are void, but don't know for sure and if true, don't know if there are any teeth in that. Anyone know?
