Battery is not replaceable according to some reviews. If you don't mind just throwing it away when the battery goes dead, then go for it.

"Power: non-replaceable lithium coin cell"
OTOH, how hard could it be to crack it open and replace the battery, which is likely to be
same on used in either your remote, or backing up BIOS in your computer

No way to change the battery causing you to have to buy a new one!?!?! Who do they think they are? Apple!?!!

$7.99 isn't unusually cheap for a digital tire gauge. I think that was the regular price of my Radio Shack gauge that talks (paid $3, thanks to FW).

I can't speak for this brand/model, but I thought the same. I had a cheap one that I used for a couple years until it went dead. I cracked it open, changed out the lithium cell and the only thing that comes up on the LCD is the letter T. I'm guessing there's some kind of calibration done at the factory on the way out that gets lost on power loss.

So, probably no go on DIY battery replacement.

These things only work until you need them...then the battery is dead. Much smarter to keep a traditional one in the glovebox.
