Have been waiting for it. Just got a Mvix Ultio and it works with it beautifully. Have been using the demo version so far

This is great software. I've been using it for Hulu & Netflix streaming for a few months now.

It will in fact work with the PS3 Slim. I should warn everyone that I have been using this since it first came out and there are quite a few problems with it due to the fact that Netflix and Hulu occasionally make it so PlayOn cannot connect. When this happens you will not be able to use the software to stream that content. The PlayOn guys are generally fast about fixing it, but there have been some extended outages, and lately I have quite a few problems with the software in general. I should also note that I am a professional software engineer so the issues are not due to my incompetence. I would still buy the software, but be prepared to deal with long outages every so often.
The people at PlayOn have also talked about charging you for a new upgrade in 2010.
I have also been using this program & it works really well. Besides allowing streaming from Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Local Video Files & Amazon (I think), like handyguy mentioned, there are other plugins you can get for the app also. That site is http://www.playonplugins.com
I've used Playon on my modded xbox for about 2 months and have already seen it on sale 3 or 4 times - usally $10 off, but once $20 off.
I agree with the above statements regarding periodic outages.. it's great when it works(which is most of the time). I didn't like what I heard about charging for upgrades next year - I wouldn't mind paying a small fee to keep it up to date, but will feel ripped off if I have to re-purchase at full price.
With the number of "special deals" they've been running on PlayOn, the de facto price pretty much is already $29.99. Seems like they've sent me a lot of e-mails telling me that it's my "last chance" to get it at the lower price.

Personally, if you can get our hands on an orig xbox & mod it - throw a 500gb HDD in there, it's a pefect media center.
I have 2 of these.. I can store tons of content locally on the 500Gb HDD, able to stream video/music from other machines on my network + with Playon, now I can get Hulu & a bunch more online content.
You can pick up a used Xbox for <=$50, $25-50 to mod it (or do it yourself) + cost of (IDE) HDD.
I also have a Wii, but haven't tried it with Playon, yet.
Thanks for the input robster! A couple of follow ups.... Old Xbox I am assuming an old black one? The orgional? Also what mod are you suggesting? XBMC? etc... what do you use for a remote?

Thanks, TXTAG
yes.. the old one... check out xbox-scene.com for more info than you'll ever want. i found someone on craigslist to mod mine - I know it's not too difficult, but I just didn't have the time to find the software to do it myself. He charged a total of 50 to softmod & install the 500Gb harddrive and XBMC.
I bought a wireless xbox remote for about $20 at GameStop - again the old remote. the nice thing about these is that they don't use IR - they use some sort of radio wave transmission - so, i can keep the door to my entertainment center closed and still operate the xbox.

My experience with PlayOn....
On the ps3, with wireless.. it's works nearly flawlessly. It has some problems with buffering once in a while half way through 45 minute shows on hulu, but for the most part, really good. the quality on Netflix is not as good as the Netflix streaming disk that comes with the Netflix subscription.
Xbox 360.. with a wired connection.. works perfectly.
wii wireless... poorest quality of the three consoles due to power of the console system. It seems to has the most problems streaming. I have tried all the troubleshooting and it does help, but it's the hardest to get a steady smooth stream. But all in all, I am pleased with the PlayOn media server.
I mostly use cbs, espn, cnn, hulu, and Amazon VOD. I have the syfy plugin and it is ok. Revision tv is a good plug in as well. With lots of good video podcasts. One of my favorites is Co-op. a video game review podcast.

I tried Playon few months back, but my pc just would not run it well at the time. Plus having trouble installing plugins I wiped it out. When I got my pc fixed up I reinstalled. Was not worth the $39.99 price tag, but today got a deal from them too good to pass up. $8.99 for a 1 month trial subscription to GameFly.com (new accounts only) and you get a $39.99 discount. TVersity, PS3Media Server and the Netflix streaming disc all have their pluses and minuses. Playon is no different. I have not tried orb. Biggest complaint about playon it is designed to run on a newer pc dedicated to being a media server. So if you have an old pc or only 1 that is always running a ton of programs it is virtually useless. Same goes if you have a less than reliable high speed network.
