If I'm reading this correctly, I'm already getting these prices from TMO... $49.99 for basic family plan + $19.98 (two add'l lines) + $9.99 (unlimited family messaging) = $80, same as the above for a 4-phone family plan with unlimited messaging. I also pay $25/month for smartphone web access for one phone, same as above.

With Page Plus, you could have 2 separate lines with Unlimited Talk+Text and 20MB web for 40/month each and still no contract. Their coverage has been excellent so far and they ride on Verizon network most places.

Their coverage has been excellent so far and they ride on Verizon network most places.Cdma network is a minus for me. I prefer SIM-based phones, where I can easy switch phones. Can even buy a gsm phone on fleabay from Europe or Hong Kong and it works. Can't do that with Vzn phones.
Many also prefer low sar radiation phones. There doesn't seem to be any available for cdma, based on repeated threads on hofo and other forums.

If you already have a new phone to put on these plans, then no contract is nice. If you are buying a new phone, then likely most phones would be free with 2 yr contract or fairly cheap with 1 year, or really expensive with this no contract - just as they always have been. Now, if TMO will sell you a new phone for cheap / free and do the whole thing with no contract then that would be a deal.

With them giving you a SIM card, they won't necessarily know what kind of phone you have. But maybe they utilize data limits.
I use an iphone on TMO using the old "T-Zones" plan which is even less. The comparable deal now is the $10 plan for phones. As far as they know I am using a cheap Moto phone I got as a pre-pay phone and converted to post-pay use. I put the new post-pay SIM in it and got the service going and then dropped the SIM in the iphone.
The cheap plan is intended for WAP sites and such (lower MB usage) while the more expensive plan is for full-web browsing phones. If you bring your own phone, you can try the $10 plan and see if you can make it work for your phone or not. You might have to play around with settings and proxies to make it go, or it may not work.

I don't get it, TMO has offered these sorts of plans for a long time now, it's called FlexPay. You get a plan with no contract, and you have to pay for the phone out of pocket. My local TMO kiosk forced me to buy a phone in order to sign up for flexpay, so be aware of that if you plan to bring your own phone. No-where on TMO's site does it list this as a requirement, so I think it was the local store pulling a fast one.

Again, these plans starts on 10/25/09 Nation wide from T-Mobile and YES the flex pay has been out but since Boost unlimited $50 plan with no credit check, Metro PCS, Cricket and AT&T prepaid $60 unlimited talk and text...T-Mobile is trying to keep up with competitors.
re: pageplus - the phones you can use aren't nearly as good as the tmobile ones. a lot of people already buy unlocked phones for use on a gsm network - now you have cheaper plans to go with that.
I would also like to know whether there's myfaves anywhere.

I would also like to know whether there's myfaves anywhere. You can use pretty much any phone that works on Verizon with Page Plus. I have a Treo.

I have this as well, my discount is 15%, working out fine, but would love the extra 150 minutes. Either of you call yet and try to get them to give you the 150 min? I just started this plan at the end of August so don't have a lot of leverage to get them to give them to me. Please post if you are able to get the extra 150 min!

DennisT-Mobile can detect what phone you are using if you have a t-mo issued phone, otherwise it shows up as a blank in you t-mo account page. I am super grandfathered in on my T-Zones accounts since I signed up when it was being beta tested. I pay $2.99/month and T-mo will honor that rate as long as I do not modify my phone plan in anyway. I am using an unlocked GSM smartphone and T-mo has on their website how to set it up for T-Zones (along for other non T-mo phones) which for all practical purposes I use it as an unlimited data plan. No problem accessing any internet site or corporate e-mail. T-Zones is no longer available though there is separate thread here FW of people doing all kinds of things to try to get it added to their account.

Standard contract plan: Unlimited calling, text, and web for $99.99 per month plus taxes and fees. Phone: MyTouch 3g $149.99 plus tax. Cost for 24 months (not counting taxes and fees): $2,549.75
Net savings over 24 months: $130 ($5.42 per month) less interest on the extra $350 (if you left it in the bank) or credit card interest on $350 (if you charged the phone).
You can save money getting the phone off of fleabay for maybe $250-350 so your net cost (assuming your fleabay phone makes it 2 years) would be a good bit less.
I am no fan of long term contracts and would never do another 2 year deal again, but everyone needs to do the math up front to see how much (or how little) they would save with each plan.
If you have your own phone now or don't mind a fleabay phone, then you can save some bucks and do it without a contract. Otherwise, not so much savings if you buy a phone from TMO.
"Actually T-Mobile rep just told me that ALL discounts are built into the "Even More Plus" plan prices. They won't apply any additional business/association/student discounts. She did say you could use the discounts with the "Even More" plan prices"
If that is correct, then the gap between contract and non-contract pricing is really not that much and could cost you more. Most anyone can get 10% off their TMO bill (freelancers discount) and many get 15% or more.

IMO Page Plus 1200 + 1200 + 50 for $29.95 is a better deal. I had a TM to Go account for 7 yrs and was happy until I moved into a building that had 'no signal' in downtown Atlanta last year. In fact EVERYONE with a T Mobile phone had no signal when they came to visit. But on the Verizon network... no problems at all so far.
Now IF you travel out of the US then the T Mobile deal is intersting but otherwise I think the PP offer is a better deal.
