This doesn't have great reviews, but at this price, it might be worth a try. 12 months of free TiVo service if ordered through Nero.

Nero LiquidTV for $69.99

Here is the cnet article talking about the product and the price drop.

Cnet

apparently at Fry's too for $60

Fry's

the tuner is pretty good if you use it for wmc7 but keep in mind with the TiVo functions you still have to subscribe to TiVo every year which is an additional 100 dollars

The FIRST 12 months are free if you order through Nero, but I don't know about fry.

Thanks op, I think this is a pretty good deal. The TV tuner it comes with goes for 70-100 by itself so you're getting 12 months of TiVo service for free. There is a downloadable trial of the software at nero's site so you can test it out if you have an existing TV tuner. My Antivirus flagged the trial as containing some sort of adware though.

I wonder if the yearly subscription is tied to software activation. It would be worth the purchase just for a year subscription if it could be transfered to a stand alone TiVo unit.

The MaximumPC review says that 12 months of TiVo service come "in the box," so the Fry's deal should include it too.

Looks like the title of this thread ought to be "12 months of TiVo service for $69.99." Reviews for the Nero product are pretty horrible - nine of the seventeen reviewers on Amazon gave it the lowest rating possible.

Not a bad deal at all for the one year of TiVo service, though. EDIT: In light of BSPZ's post below, maybe it's not such a good deal, since it may be the case that the service can only be used with the LiquidTV hardware.

In for one. Been thinking about upgrading to a TiVo with a digital tuner, you know, just in case this "digital" thing catches on. =)

Use coupon code 7SP5NWLA45 for an extra $5 off...

Works on the Nero WebSite and Includes FREE SHIPPING!!!

For Me....No TAX!

Does anyone know if you can buy this and just apply the 12 months of TiVo to a regular TiVo box? Or is the 12 months included fixed to the LiquidTV setup?

Not for sure, but this was on the Nero forums - http://forum.my.nero.com/index.php?showtopic=2124:
<snip>Your TiVo TSN does not work with LiquidTV. A TSN for LiquidTV will be included in your retail package.</snip>

Sounds like they may have special TSN's for LiquidTV although that is not a definite indication that TiVo would not let you apply that sub to your TiVo box.

Probably should contact TiVo support by phone as I couldn't find anything on their support site either.

nice find OP.

On the bright side, the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q tuner that comes in this package is supported under Win7 MCE, so even if TiVo withdraws from the PC DVR market you're not left high and dry.

There is a coupon for $5 of your next purchase at Nero. I just got the setup for $64.99

Do you have a link to the coupon?

I received mine. First, unless I am doing something wrong (and I don't believe that I am) the TiVo software DOES NOT record in HD. In fact, I can't even watch any of my QAM HD channels via the TiVo software. The TiVo software also DOES NOT like the fact that I run my 2 monitors at different resolutions. My main monitor is at 1680 and I have an older 1280 monitor with it. The TiVo detects my display as 1680 and when I try and have it play on my secondary monitor it's aspect ratio gets all messed up. There does not seem to be a way to change the resolution setting from inside the TiVo software. I installed the Hauppauge software and the HD looks really good but the software has locked up a couple of times while recording.

Is the TiVo subscription activated through the software? I was so hoping there would be a way to separate the sub from LiquidTV.

You get a code on the back of one of the cds that you enter into the TiVo during setup. It's been about 8-10 years since I setup a TiVo so I can't tell you if it's the same format. Mine is a code in the format of 3-4-4-4-4

Why would anyone pay for using TiVo on a PC when there's stuff like Snapstream BeyondTV and Sage that don't charge a fee other than the initial purchase.
