Refurbished Westinghouse LCD TVs are a joke. My last one went broke just after 3 months. There is no warranty coverage on these TVs so buy at your own risk.

I have a 32" Westinghouse LCD from thanksgiving 06 which I got got 499 and its still going strong
You must have got a brand new and not refurbished one. The brand new TV has a warranty of 1 yr and you cannot go wrong there. Refurbished ones are defective returned items which have been repaired and there is good chance something will go wrong with them again, which the company knows and therefore are afraid to give a warranty. Hope everyone who does buy refurbished buys an extended warranty ( which would not save them anything as compare to new TV anyway ).

Saved almost $300 on my 42 inch lcd.
Sounds like you get the added benefit of the rush of not knowing what will happen first- getting your rebate in the mail or your TV breaking. No thanks.
Good luck with the rebate attempt. Mine was denied because the refurb UPC did not match the one that the rebate house was given, which, apparently, was the new TV UPC code.
Don't turn down the backlighting unless you enjoy a loud hum. I returned my Westy 26" to Costco and never looked back. There are some good low-end brands (Dynex, Proscan, Sceptre), but IMO Westy is no longer among them.
Quite a few of us FW'rs got the 720P 32" Westinghouse refurb early this year on a MacMall rebate. Mine has been perfect.

been checking the website and finally the price dropped to $229 (before 50 Visa Card) $179 shipped and no tax for me so i pulled the trigger. I know its a refurb but wanted it for my sons play room to go along with the wii from Amazon I just ordered as well as the FAR wallmount also found on FW Have to say FW is the best now lets hope PC Connection comes through and I get my $50 visa card as well as my rebates on the wallmounts and it will be a merry xmas Thx FW
This is $249 again before the $50 rebate Visa card. I know it was less at one point but there's nothing really close (with free ground shipping). i paid tax in NY (about $21) but it is still significantly cheaper than anything of that size at this time, and I don't need the 1080p as I don't do any gaming, etc, plus it's small enough that 720p is acceptable. Remember to get the 2% CashBack by going through the fatwallet link. all told, i figure i'm paying about $215 (after tax and cb). not bad.
We have an older and uglier refurb Westinghouse (LTV27W7) that we got from eCost three years ago and it's still in great shape. bright, sharp image. the remote's not the best but whatevs.
one last thing, even though the rebate dates would reflect otherwise, they do not always offer this deal. last week, there was no rebate offered.
