As of the time that I am posting there are still 31 available in the socal store.

$300 off the regular price of the new model is a good deal!
This newer model has a larger hard drive, and LED display, but no more firewire, among other plusses and minuses..
Green!

Update: Only 1 left at Madison Heights store in metro Detroit..

There were 30 (Virginia) when I checked but I bought this same configuration for my wife a few months ago for $799+ tax from Microcenter. $100 less now. Oh so sad. I think it's definitely a good deal if you can grab one.

I think we'll probably see low end MacBook for $599 by the end of the year.

My friend bought one at $999 at the beginning of the year.
I got purchased one $899 around April.
The lowest I saw was $799AR from Microcenter a couple of months.
Now $699 AR.

woot bunch of greens. do i get a shirt now?

Unfortunately no, because Microcenter is not one of FW's affiliate merchants. Rules pictured.

You skipped a step. I am thinking the next price will be $699 WITHOUT a rebate. (That is what microcenter did when it kept dropping the price on the 1.83 ghz mac mini awhile ago. First a low price with a rebate, then the same total price without a rebate.)

So far today, the microcenter near me hasn't sold any. Hmmm. What to do? Do I jump in now, or do I wait....I hate rebates, but I want this laptop. Hmmmm....

If you're going by the invventory shown on their site, it's not real-time for store inventory. I've found out the hard way a few times when I've run over to get something that showed in stock.

Did you add to cart and check out as in-store pickup?

Solution, use a CC with low price guarantee....

It shows $664 after rebate for Philadelpiha store.

The $664 price in the Philly store is for an open box unit.

The new ones are $699 after rebate just like the rest of the Microcenter stores.

If you have to have a Macbook then this is a good deal on a new machine. I used to own the white version of this machine and it was great ... but I ended up selling it. That damned cover gets scratched so easily ...

Nice deal. Thanks!

No, that was the unibody macbook.....this is the even older white one. No LED screen, and DOES have firewire 400

DOH! I reversed it!

Yes, this model for $699 is the older model with firewire etc.. and no LED screen..

ok I think it is time for someone who got this exact deal to talk. I got one for my wife on Tuesday. I ordered it around noon and there were about 20 of them left. Anyways, it is the unibody white Macbook with Firewire. As far as everyone's concern with OS 10.6 snow leopard, the answer is half and half. This Macbook does not have OS 10.6 "pre-installed" , but did came with the installation or upgrade disc right out of the box. So to me i think it is a big bang for the buck since i don't have to spend an extra 30 dollars for OS 10.6. Also, the biggest difference between this and the new Macbook is the RAM. the MC240LL/A uses DDR2 at 1066 and the new one uses DDR3 that's much faster. But for my personal use it is perfectly enough.

This rebate ended 11/1/09. The new unibody MacBook, that was introduced on 10/29/09, is on sale at MicroCenter for $1000 - $200 rebate, covered in another FW thread. The $200 rebate started today. For sale with instore pickup only.

Wow, that's a better deal. Good thing my wife don't know the difference between DDR2 vs DDR3. Anything beats our 2nd gen mini. The older gen actually works better for my wife as we have one of those ADC 20" Cinema Display that we will never get rid of and we need the firewire, which the current gen doesn't have.

Hmm, maybe i will get one for myself.
