EDIT/Update

Digital Preferred promotion of $1.99 a month is not available in your market. We can upgrade you though to Digital Starter or Digital Preferred. I may need to transfer you to our Sales Department to check on the options available for you. Is that fine with you?

No go in sacramento, CA. I am only 1.5 hours

I have triple play, with "Digital Starter"
I called and inquired about this, and was quoted $15.95 extra per month. This would give me channels 100-???

Deal at $1.99, no deal at $15.95

I went on the chat and got 6 months for free but with a $1.99 one time fee. After the 6 months it is $16.95 a month. I'm in SF area.

Limited cable just went to about 30 channels, of which 20 are junk. I was getting about 80 channels, and now I don't have squat. I called and they were like "sorry, now you gotta get a box and upgrade to get what you were getting" for about $55 a month instead of my $14.30 I am paying now. I am really considering satellite since i live where its only Comcast (silly monopoly really).

Same for me here in the Seattle area. QAM-tuner TVs and my DVR are now useless without a Comcast box.

Trying to sort out the same issue. Have limited cable and was getting about 80 channels, some like AMC and BRAVO for years and years. Also, no cable box or hardware of any sort. Suddenly it's all gone and they are talking about cable boxes and extra fees. If I pay the $55 per month then can't they just add back the channels? Don't want their box or remote.

Nope. They scrambled it. You need their Gestapo box to unscramble it.

It's really simple: I'll pay $30 when I get to choose the 30 channels I want. I'm not paying $60 for the 30 channels I want, plus 70-odd crappy channels.
