Memorex HD DVD-R (48.06kB)

Yeah, I did a double take, because right between men's underwear and iPhone cases, they had blank HD DVD-Rs.

I'm sure that the salespeople have NO idea what HD DVD is, however, if you have an HD DVD burner, and you want to stock up on some of this *legacy* media before it is gone forever, it's a good price.

Memorex 15GB sells for $15-$17 elsewhere. I've seen marketplace listings for $1.99, but free shipping doesn't apply, so this is the best I've seen.

I don't get it. How is this a good deal? You can buy decent-quality 25GB BD-R (Blu-Ray record once) disks for less than $2 a piece, or buy 8.5GB DVD+R DL discs for about 75 cents apiece (and therefore get a cheaper price per gigabyte ratio). If they're clearing out old HD-DVD media, then I'd expect it to be LESS expensive than Blu-Ray. I can understand wanting to hold on to your old HD-DVD hardware somewhat, but why do it at this price or especially a higher price?

I think It's basically like a collectible at this point. That's how I treated it, anyway.

Confirmed they have these at the TJ Maxx in Cedar Knolls, NJ. Didn't buy them, but picked up the last 30-pack of 16x HP DVD+R's for $5!
Didn't see any Memorex 2x DL DVR+Rs that a prior poster mentioned.
