This arrived via email today.

Receive $5 off a future Amazon.com retail order when you purchase an Amazon.com Gift Card of $50 or greater in a single qualifying purchase between October 23, 2009, and October 31, 2009. If you make a qualifying purchase and do not cancel, a promotional code of $5 will be sent to this email address by November 30, 2009, and is good for one month from the date of the email. Code may be applied only to products sold by Amazon.com and does not apply to products sold by third-party merchants and other sellers through the Amazon.com site. Restrictions apply. See www.amazon.com/promos for complete details.

I see no mention of the promotion on the gift card page, but I have no doubt Amazon will make good on the credit.

Seems good deal, a 10% off, if it works out.

Didn't receive any email about this.

Interested, but wondering-- can you buy a gift card with Amazon credit? Anybody know? The point would be to get $5 extra credit...

Some debate about this. There is no mention of this promo ANYWHERE on the Amazon Gift Card page and a SD poster contacted customer service at Amazon and they too knew nothing about it.

Might be wise to refrain until there a better confirmation that this deal is Valid for EVERYONE.

On the gift card page http://www.amazon.com/gp/gc/ref=g_gc-gc_dp_redirect one of the limitations:

Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase other Gift Cards, such as Amazon.com Gift Cards, Target Gift Cards, or Borders Gift Cards.

I'd like to know if this is valid--I have some gift cards to buy!

I think he's asking about using a Amazon credit card to buy an Amazon gift card. I doubt there's any sort of limitation on that since the credit card is actually through Chase bank, not Amazon.

could be very! targeted!?

Hmm, can't find any confirmation, I will bite when we get something official.

Looks targeted. I received the promotional email at my lesser-used Amazon account but not at my primary account.
