External USB enclosures get fairly hot with just one drive. This enclosure has a fan but where are the exit slots/vents for the cool air to enter or hot air to exit?
Does the OS see two separate drives? If so, copying data from drive to drive is going to be very slow.
If the reviews on Newegg are any indication (admittedly, they're populated with one drive, but the cabinet is probably the same), then this is bad news. I'll skip it, thanks...
I bought on at the Microcenter in Virginia. It support JBOD and BIG configuration. JBOD mode enables each hard drive to be seen separately as single drives, showing two drives. The BIG mode concatenates the two drives and reports to the OS as one single drive (concatenated together). There is no mirror or stripped RAID support. I have it hooked up to a Linksys WRT610N wireless router and is working fine so far.
This enclosure is identical to Vantec NexStar MX except design of the front panel, which in both cases provides holes for air intake. Vantec is also missing extra switch on the back panel to turn the fan off (Tried and not recommended though because drives may become very hot!). Internal design and PCB with components look absolutely the same. I used Vantec for quite some time with 2x1TB drives with my MediaGate player in JBOD mode. No issues to report.
Picked up four of them. Guy said that he had 110 at the beginning of the week, and was down to the last four.

I picked up 2 from the Chicago store they still have a stack of these enclosers. I was suprise the build quality of these it is actually pretty good, the build is very solid it doesn't have the cheesy feel. I think I will go back to pick up a few more just for my future clients, I can easily sell these to my clients for $50 or $80. Thanks OP!
