Any idea how this is different from the MXL 990? Better for...?

Sounds like a decent mic for voice over (review)...I might pick one up just to try out.

I own a pair of the 990 and I am pleased with them, but have not yet used the 992. The 990's have a frequency response of 30Hz-20Khz as opposed to 20Hz-20Khz. The 992 also features -10 dB low frequency roll-off, and 10dB switchable attenuation that the 990 does not. The other main difference is the case they come in; the 990 comes in a plastic case while the 992 comes in an aluminum case.
