These are just a few of the deals that I felt deserved special mention. If you find a better deal or think there are other laptops that give you more bang for your buck, then please feel free to post them here and share with the community, as your comments or criticisms are always welcome.

I got the TD deal for MSI A5000 laptop for $375 (after Bing CB).
Surprised that we are not seeing good deals on basic laptops with Vista Basic yet. I expected some blow out deals on new laptops with Vista Basic.

In the future it might be easiest to read a post like this if the laptops were sorted in increasing order of price. Reading in order of price you could see what a certain amount of extra money gets for improved specifications.
If youre going to put the Acer from Best Buy thats a single core for 349.99 then you might as well include the Acer from Staples item number 828337. As far as I know its been removed from the website but stores still have them and its a dual core with the same specs.
I do like the idea though. Not a bad job and Im sorry if this post came across as nitpicking but wanted to point out for others about the other deal.

and erbaker67 thought he was nitpicking... there are only 4 of them listed, all of which fit on my screen for viewing. Not hard to discern. They are different deals and more money may not always equal better specs in the eyes of different people. People may have different retailer, brand, size, quality, OS... preferences.

Umm.. the title says 'Top LAPTOP Picks'. Considering a laptop is not a netbook, the logic is pretty straightforward as to why there are no netbooks here.
Good finds OP.

I think the deal from Staples is very good. Not only its a Dual COre but it also has more HD capacity 250 GB as compared to 160 GB at best buy. I got this deal for $275 becoz I had an old laptop which they took for $75. So no more waiting for me on the thanksgiving deals..

Hows that work out? You are talking about the $550 laptop that you saved $75 on and it was only $275? If you can tell me how that works... I will be out getting one today.

Would the Acer be sufficient for a high school student who wants to do graphic/video design/editing? I know you need a dedicated graphics card.
Since the Staples 828337 is not on the website any more but can be ordered, what are its specs?
Thanks.
Oh, just found out the ATI Radeon 3200 is not a dedicated GPU. Oh well.

Registration process requires card # (that's ok) and security code (that's not ok).

My local Staples only has the 828337 display unit, and said they can't sell it until it goes on clearance. Is there a way to get them to sell it to me (different manager) and is it worth it to get the display unit?

Nice, that looks like it meets everything I'm looking for (would like hdmi but don't need it). Wish I didn't have to pay the extra 25$ sales tax for buying in tax loving MN.

I'm looking to get a new laptop right now BUT I won't get anything that does not have an I7 processor,1GB video card and WUXGA screen resolution I'll probably end up ordering one and also add a blu ray burner and SSD hard drive

You're in the wrong thread. The machine you are spec-ing is Minimum $1300 today.

Nice deal. My suggestion for the future is best laptop with a WUXGA screen (1920 x 1200 resolution I believe.) These are hard to find so the people like me who want high-resolution laptops, even if they cost a little more, can jump on them quick!

Our last two laptops have been Dells and we loved the in-home warranty. Do any other vendors provide in-home repair services? We live in the sticks and not having to drive it into a store, then drive in to pick it up again is a big plus!
