Wouldn't this also have to work with the 2G? Since its a 3G product, it means it's probably using only USB charging. Pretty sure the 2G supported USB and Firewire charging, so the 2G phone should be forward-compatible.

Just a FYI.. These don't work with virtually every case. You have to remove your phone's case to use a dock. Green from me!

Don't worry about it...it's a USB cable, if the phone sits in the dock good, then we are all good.

I disagree, the usb cable connector is the same, the dock shape is curved for the 3g and 3gs...while flat for the 2g...

I don't understand the point of having a case that doesn't seem to protect the actual device. An aluminum case? If you drop the phone all the impact will be transferred directly to the phone anyways, so why have the case at all? Are scratches really that big a deal? Can someone please enlighten me?

(I don't mean to single blinkcase or RDMustang1 out, this is directed more at the myriad of cases available for the iphone that appear to be only aesthetic improvements, many at a >$30 price tag)

You have to watch out for Meritline. I ordered a similar product (charger cable for 3g). They charged me right away and then finally, after 5 weeks and still not receiving the order, I canceled it.
