It says, "easy-to-read date display window located at 4:00". I guess they figure it is easier to read (more ergonomic) when you look down at your watch.

I have owned two of their watches and they are just awesome. I have had my recent one for 9 years. play sports in it, swim with it, never change battery. I have a titanium wrist band, which is nicer. they face is completely scratch free. Never need change of batter.
