nice specs. Can this thing use its image stabilization (IS) while doing HD movie shooting? and does it do IS digitally, or optically?

Where do I get the "30 off 150" coupon?

those are 1-time-use coupons, and you get them by a) signing up for Staples email newsletters (not everyone gets a coupon w/ their newsletter, tho), or b) buying them online

you can get the coupons from ejunkie, just search for it.

eBay.

i love this camera.

Optical.

is this better than sd1200?

neuromix said: is this better than sd1200? Yes. It records HD quality movies, and personally I think it has a better feel (better construction) but that might just be my opinion. Otherwise, the two are fairly comparable.

Using the "check in-store availability" feature on the Staples website, most stores are out-of-stock or have low availability. Will they get more in or do they have them hidden in the back room for sale 11/1-11/7?

In my opionion ...Yes!
I've researched all of them and like the previous guy said...the 1200 does NOT take HD movies like the 780 does. I wanted the 1200 till I saw this. Maybe you don't care about taking short HD quality movies. Like anything, everybody has different needs. Do your homework...ie, search compact camera reviews. Compare them....read what others have to say. I've been impressed with a product till I read a review that several people have written about. Sometime you find there are problems with the item that of course you will NOT find out from the manufacture. When several people are writing about a problem...it's probably true. That's why reading reviews/opinions help so much whether it's cameras, cars, laptops, etc. Another thing I do before I purchase is to wait and don't buy on impulse. This gives you time to do your research...you'll learn much more about your options than buying on impulse.

Does anyone know if Staples has a sunday paper flyer...none came with my paper here in south jersey. I don't know if they forgot to put one in or if Staples doesn't have one this week.

They do have it in South Jersey Sunday papers. For home-delivery, sometimes it's actually on Sunday, rather than Saturday.

Thanks OP. Picked one up.

OOS online. Good thing I bought it before the deal started and did a price match

Live again, just ordered it.

These guys didn't sell much at Staples at $249.99 or even at $229.99 so I don't think Staples has enough stock of these items.

For those already bought this, is it made in Japan or China?

That is hard to say....I seen some made in Japan and some made in China at Staples.....I guess it all depends how lucky you are...

Now it has a 50 dollar gift card? We just got ripped off again...

I returned and re-purchased the camera yesterday for another $50 MIR GC. The store manager was very co-operative, and even re-applied my old $30 off coupon without much fuss.
Final price, including taxes, was $134.50 Great deal IMO.

199.99 - 30 (off 150 coupon) - 50 (MIR GC) = $120 + tax on $199.99

Just bought one today, returning my 1200. The 780 is so tiny compared to it, really happy with it so far.
A note on manufacture, the box said china but the Camera said Japan.
Guess I got lucky.

Was OOS online, now it's back in my area, but with a three-day delivery delay. I bought on Staples.com last week, rep said I could PM to the $50 GC rebate and get the rebate, but only if item is in-stock. Nice.

I managed to score a Red one. none of the stores in my area had any.
I'm a 'black' kinda person, how obnoxious is the red? I guess I'll always know what camera is mine.

Confirmed; in-stock online (for Columbus,OH). Spent $3.99 at e-junkie for a $30 off $150. Combined with the -$40 instant at checkout without any problems. Didn't see any instantly fulfilled coupons on eBay.

You can search e-junkie for other sellers, but I bought here and can vouch it worked (3rd one down in the list). Coupon delivered immediately at PayPal checkout.

$180.61 delivered with tax (plus $50 Staples gift card)

Good luck!

The one I bought from Staples.com was made in Japan. I picked up a black one from WalMart and that was made in China.

Is there really a difference between the China made or Japan made? does anyone has both?

Supposedly China only employs lazy sloppy workers and everyone in Japan is a model of perfection and efficiency.

I've never noticed a difference in stuff I buy, other than the stuff that is explicitly cheap like Deal Extreme.

Although... that did give me an idea on how to get a black one
