Title says all. This ad is available in Austin and Dallas. Not sure about the rest of Frys.

MB is $110 and Q9400 is $189 at Newegg.

This board is very overclock friendly and Hackintosh ready. I installed SL with lifehacker guide (google it) and all I/O ports works!

Great deal for that combo.

Don't bother going down to Fry's if you are in bay areas. They are all gone. My company just right next to Fry's on Brokaw in SJ. I went down there during lunch time. And a lady was nice enough to check the inventory of all Fry's in bay areas for me. All gone in the morning.

The cpu is OEM. Some are engineering samples that even don't have "Q9400" on them.

Yep, ncyt, Fry's stopped advertising decent combo deals about 6-8 months ago. In the last month they have been ADVERTISING good combos again, it is just that they only have a couple in stock at each store. Excited folks come in and get upsold. Check the stock of these combos, MAYBE they are still available. http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/963448/

I should have called before I posted.

They did the same with both of their previous CPU/Mobo deals, last week -- 20 copies of the mobo on hand, and when they were gone, no more. Then they didn't restock that mobo anywhere before the deal was up. Dreadfully close to bait and switch, IMO.

great deal. I have the UD3R MB with the Q9400 and paid just under $300 earlier in the year. Too bad it's already OoS.

For folks with Microcenter near them, Q9550 is available for 169. Then you can buy your own mobo with your favorite features. IMHO that's a better option. However, in any case, building a new desktop with this combo is a little too late when i5/i7 with DDR3 is not that big of a price upgrade. Also, memory manufacturers are price fixing DDR2 prices as people are all excited about upgrading their memory with the release of Windows 7 64bit leading to a higher demand. 8GB of good DDR2 will cost you an arm and a leg.

Yet again, the local Fry's had 5 of these combos in and was sold out immediately after they opened. This is the 3rd time in the past month or so that I know of in which the local Fry's had a total of 5 "on sale" combo's when they opened on Friday, and each time sold out immediately.

I wish I had the conviction to stop shopping there. Maybe I do, and I just don't know it yet...

I dont think I've come across anything about c2d engineering samples, but in the past, engineering samples didn't have locked multipliers, which is an excellent thing if you plan on overclocking it.

According to this article (thx to douglasfir on SD), C2D engineering samples aren't desireable and shouldn't even be sold at retail, let alone by a large electronics retailer like Fry's.

Frys in Norcal OOS!
