Per the Frys ad in the LA times, both my friend and I bought the TV at Sears w/ price match to Frys for $1509.99. The OTD price is $1657.21 as I paid 9.75% to the state and county tax coffer. If you are a Samsung fan or LED fan, no need to explain. No LED for me until another 2 generations and no Samsung as I have been happy w/ Sony for the last 20 yrs.
So this ad was in Fridays paper? The Frys website shows 2609 - 400 = $2209 + tax would come to around $2400 This seems like a really hot deal if I can get Sears to price match and get it for $1657. I'm suprised this deals not getting any attention. I wonder if it was a typo in the ad, did Sears call Frys when you bought it?

dh is so tempted to go to Sears for a pm. but we really don't need it so it's a "NO" from me.
It's right in the Fri edition. The TV is coming to the store on Monday and I can pick it up. I think this is perfect until the next two years when LED LCD have improved angle viewing and the prices come down another 30-40%.

Thanks OP. I got it at Sears after PM to Fry's for $1509 but Sears won't give extra 10% Sears card discount. I heard someone else could pull this off and it s a super steal. It's a good deal nonetheless. I'm surpresed that not many people care about this deal.

What is the procedure to get price match from Sears? Do I call, email or come to store? Need to bring the Ads from Fry's?

When I told the salesperson about Fry's advertised price, he went online to check (OC Register) to pull up ad. He stated Sears will do price match only of Fry's had any stock. After he confirmed the ad (Oct 30th), I called around and found the Fry's in Thousand Oaks had six in stock so Sears price matched it. I paid $1648 out the door (Orange County, Ca). TV will be in on Tuesday. Good luck!

Good post OP. I checked it out today at Fry's to just check out the TV and almost pulled the trigger. I will wait instead for an LED; very tempting at $1648 (CA) out the door vs $1917 at Amazon.
I'm in OC, CA and keep getting shot down because no one has it in stock. Thousand Oaks is too far for them to PM. I did find out the that Fry's will issue a rain check. I guess I've got till Thursday till the price expires.

I picked up the kdl52xbr9 at Pacific Sales for $1597. This price also included a Sony HTCT100 Soundbar and a Sony BDPS560 Blu-ray. Pacific Sales had an advertised price of $1699 which included the Sony BDVE300 5.1 blu-ray system in Fridays LA Times.
