ASUS 1008HA Netbook, Black, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n, VGA Dongle, Atom N280, 6 Hr Battery, XP Home, $290 AMIR, Free Shipping

I haven't seen a sub-$300 price on this netbook for a while.

Pluses are bluetooth, 802.11n, VGA, and faster N280 processor. These are not usually found at this price point.

Minuses are poor sound and that it is a hassle to upgrade to Windows 7 (if you want to). Battery must be replaced by ASUS.

Forget Windows on this. These ASUS netbooks work excellently with Eeebuntu.

Here is a better review from CNET http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-eee-pc-1008ha/4505-3121_7-33661568.html?tag=mncol;lst

First thing they mention is this:
"Anyone interested in the 1008HA reviewed here is advised to check out the Asus Eee PC 1005HA (released after this review was written). It offers a very similar design, but with a removable battery that lasts significantly longer than the 1008HA model. "

It sure does look nice, but since it has a smaller non-removable battery, they need to lower the price more.

Yeah, they did the non-removable battery to help get to 1 inch thick and 2.4 lbs.

Anyone had any luck putting an air card on one of these?

The battery is Li-Polymer, which has less memory issues and supposedly lasts longer. Battery requires ASUS service to replace it.
