I received a flyer in the mail from Charter Communications Offering 6 free months of Showtime for free as a gift for being a "Valued Customer" I called 1-877-958-7171 and mentioned the flyer and they added 6 months of Showtime for free. I am in California, I don't know if it works elsewhere.
I just cancelled Showtime, HBO, Starz, Cinemax, etc... with Charter two days ago in my local office - Southern Oregon. They said 'No current promotions available'. I wanted Showtime only and they said "$14 per mo...", to which I said 'No thank you!'
I just called the number you provided and said "My husband got a flyer in the mail (yes, I lied...) that said as a valued customer we are eligible to receive 6 months of Showtime for free." I also explained that I'd recently cancelled my Showtime and other premiums due to the expense and taken on Netflix instead. Within 30 seconds the rep had given me the promotion - no hassle - and told me that at the end of six months the Showtime would just stop working, and I would not be billed.
WOW... now I'm so happy because I'll be able to keep up with Californication and The Tudors! Thank you again... great deal!
It also worked for my mother. She called and simply said "I'm calling about the free Showtime for 6 months promotion..." and they gave it to her without a fuss. She didn't even mention the flyer!
