Best I've seen BM has been $399. Buds has this one for $380. Local Dick's Sunday ad, price good thru 11/7.

Manufacturer's Website

Bud's Gun Shop

Can anyone do better than the $15 coupon? A 15-20% off would make this very hot.

Check on eBay.

Careful, many of those store coupons, actually everyone I have ever received say that they don't apply to firearms and ammunition. YMMV.

Dicks took the coupon last time I bought a gun and ammo even though it said that. Good business for them.

What's the difference between the Savage Arms 111FCXP3 and the Savage-Stevens Model 200?

Model 200

I gave a family member the .243 version of this "package gun." It has an inexpensive Bushnell 3x9 scope on it. I think it is an excellent value. Once the scope is properly mounted and sighted-in, it gives respectable groupings out to 200 yards (which is our regular target distance). No Accu-trigger, but the trigger on it performs admirably. The fit and finish on these guns was FAR superior to fit and finish on the package Remington guns that are comparably priced.

It has had the desired effect on the whitetails and hogs we hunt.

I am a big Savage fan. Too bad no accu-trigger though. They are sweet.

They appear to be basically the same firearm as neither has the accutrigger feature.

The Stevens rifles are basically a value (no frills) version of the Savage line of rifles.

Seems to be regional. I can find this deal on Dick's website in PA but not OH. I went to an Ohio Dick's (near Cleveland) and it's $399. I went to another Dick's to double check - tagged $399. Weird thing is that I asked the person behind the counter for a price check and it came up $369!!!! Dick's is kind of screwy.

Will Dick's price match another States sales items?

The Stevens are a lower end model of the Savages. I found that the biggest difference (at least in appearance) was with the stock, it wasn't as finished or nice, but I didn't fire the Stevens. Also the Stevens didn't have a removable magazine or a lower ammo door. I'm not sure how you unload the Stevens.

If you really want accutrigger, search for the 111FXP3. It's around $580 mail ordered. Same exact gun, but with the adjustable pull on the trigger. I just couldn't see spending $200 more just for that feature, but hey, that's still less than most Rem 700s.

At this price range, I think the Marlin XL-7 is a better bargain. I bought mine for less than $300 and it has an adjustable trigger.

@livinn59801 thanks for the heads up. Just bought the Marlin XL-7 30-06 at Gander Mountain. I live in Ohio - and I could not find a single Dick's that had it in stock. Finally found a Dick's in PA that had the 30-06. I went to Gander (who are very difficult to get a price match for) and got it out the door for $298. Ganders list price is $329.

They were running a package special (which I missed) on a Marlin XL-7 - Busnell 3-9 scope - strap for $329 last week. I kind of wish I had gotten that deal. The cheap scope would have served me fine initially.

Any recommendations on a really good scope for around $100? I will be hunting in upper PA - so I don't think I'll be scoping deer at 400 yards!

See chuckhawks.com for a discussion of scopes (and guns and other shooting/hunting goods). Scroll to "recommended Riflescopes" and "Riflescopes by Price Class" at the bottom of the referenced page. My experience is that most of their reviews enjoy at least a modicum of objectivity. I purchased the Burris Fulfield II based in part on their reviews. I think their review was spot on.

The Sightron line of scopes might be what you are looking for.

Congrats on the purchase! A cheap Bushnell would probably give you a few good years of service. Also, you might be able to get a low-end Leopold or Nikon for under $100 on eBay. I got a pretty nice Nikon for $90 a year ago on there because it was missing it's box.
