That's probably because the description is the one when the charger came out - before the 3G did.

It's a better deal if you want to use a known name-brand charger with your iPhone instead of destroying the battery with one of the cheap Chinese knockoffs.

I bought a cheapo chinese knock off and it stopped working after only a few weeks. In addition the connection wasn't very good. (Had to have my iphone at a specific angle).
There's a reason these chinese products are cheap. There's no care in the manufacturing and attention to detail.
