I still don't understand why this update costs money. Microsoft doesn't charge money for its Service Packs which is basically the equivalent of 10.5 to 10.6

Yes! Vista was so perfect, and leap to Windows 7 was so fair to charge $200+.

Because adding various features and implementing 64-kernel are what Service Packs are for, Snow Leopard needs to be totally free.

The 10.6 package is a full version of the software - yes, it's priced as an upgrade from Tiger / Leopard, but you can actually install this on a clean system.

Personally, I think $25 is worth the price - especially if you are still running Tiger.

I'm just saying I don't think this is a very substantive update (10.5 to 10.6 that is). I'm not the only one either check out the washington post http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fasterforward/2009/11/snow_leop...

Actually, you need to have Mac OS 10.5 to use this upgrade software. I don't believe that you can install it on a clean system.

You can, even Walt Mossberg (or maybe someone else) said that you could in his published review. Whether you'll have a clean conscious afterwards is another question...
