item # 9267401 BB96GFF6HVD. It may take a while before I install this card, have some urgent things to take care. This is the best candidate for HTPC though that I came up to and you can't beat the price

I've just found a $30 rebate for this very same card, valid between 11/1/2009 and 12/13/2009.
That makes the total $32.99 + tax AR

Not many power supplies (under 500W) put out 26A on one +12V rail.
Watch out for that.

I was excited to get ASUS 9600GT for myself and an ASUS 9600 GSO for my family member for $30-$40.
But after seeing the power requirement, they are sitting on the shelf.
(Did not want to kill the power supply and MB.)

Don't know what Galaxy is smoking, claiming only 300W PS is needed.

This is a low power version of the 9600GT with reduced power consumption by 40% over regular one, it needs only 20A

Regular 9600gt draws only 98w according to wiki, so that's only about 8A. Unless you have a quad core, 20A would be plenty. Also, many good power supplies under 500W have 26A. After all, 26*12 is well under 500 and the 12V rail is the only one that really matters. In fact, my Antec Earthwatts 380W has 27A and people have shown that it can power a q6600 and a 8800gtx.

that can be tricky because the rebate says the receipt/invoice must have your billing address on it.

bustedbuy store receipts never show your mailing address.

Good point

I installed the Galaxy card today. As far as the noise goes, the fan is pretty quiet when idles but quite noisy under load
