Amazon has Up + Monsters Blu-rays for $37.48 without all the coupon+pricematch hassle.

just search for the Up Blu ray and scroll down to the combo offer.

Butttt. price match both up and monsters and total is about $43 bux, minus $10 minus $8 so total should be $25 for both. hmmmm i like that

I see a 10 dollar coupon, not 18. What's the deal?

please read the OP again CAREFULLY.

I didn't think Target price matched.

Bstallard said: I didn't think Target price matched.

yes they do. but you must bring in the ad from WalMart.

oohhh so thats why you mentioned only UP and not Monsters.. hmm hopefully monsters will be in the ad as well.

a print out from the WalMart website should work as well. YMMV.

If you can obtain these movies cheaper as DVD's than these sale-priced Blu-Rays, that would be the route to go. The standard definition Monsters, Inc. DVD looks incredible with a good upscaling DVD player displaying on an HDTV and I cannot imagine any significant improvement by going with a Blu-Ray version of it. This is typical of modern animated films - they all look exceptional and it is unlikely you would get images that are much better, if at all, by going to Blu-Ray. Some electronics stores will use animated films like Monsters, Inc. to demo their HDTV's because the images will look so impressive that customers won't notice the difference between better and cheaper displays like they would with non-animated images.

Is there a WM ad with Up in it? I haven't seen a WM ad in a while, we get them monthly at best in my area. $19.96 for the Bluray is a better price than the 2 disc DVD version elsewhere!

With the coupons, etc, it is better to get the blu-ray which comes with the DVD. The price is close to, if not cheaper than the DVD. I agree the PQ on these DVDs tend to be awesome, but the increase in sound quality and picture quality makes it nice to own, especially at a discounted price.

BTW, will WalMart accept the Target coupon? Could be easier to get them to just take the coupon than to get Target to PM both movies.

Here is the official Target PM policy: Target Low Price Promise

Nice deal, but note that these two movies are currently $37.48 shipped (together) from Amazon after the $10 combo coupon. Right now the pricing at Amazon is $24.49 for MI and $22.99 for UP. If one or both of these drop to 19.99 by next week to match store sales (As seems likely), Amazon (with the pre-order price guarantee) will end up being the best deal.

Perhaps your home theater experience (and golf game! ) would benefit from a trip to the eye doctor.

Plus get a free baby Kevin plush at Disney Movie Rewards by entering the code in either pack. http://disney.eprize.net/movierewards/index.tbapp?page=gwp/up_09

Target won't price match if they are taking a coupon.

I bet you're one of the eagle-eyed geniuses who think you can see a difference betweeen a 720p and 1080p 42" display at normal viewing distances. Sure you can sometimes** easily appreciate the added detail a Blu-Ray version provides in a closeup of a face or in a landscape in a normal film, but there simply is not much higher resolution information available in animated features.

** We've watched plenty of Blu-Rays on my Marantz home theater projector (probably a better HD display than most people have) that have made my wife ask "Tell me again why we're paying an extra $5 a month more to Netflix for Blu-Rays? I can't see much of a difference." Some Blu-Ray versions of movies simply do not take full advantage of the higher resolution and really don't look a whole lot better than standard DVD's. A caveat: I play DVD's through my home theater PC and it probably has better upscaling to 720p than anything shy of a high-end videophile level (i.e. $3000+) DVD player.

Don't forget the higher resolution soundtrack, which you can definately notice, even over analog. And at 720P you won't see a huge difference between upscaling and a blu-ray except for things like a birds eye view of a stadium crowd

I guess YMMV... from Target's policy (it does exclude coupons)

Yes, but can you spot the 1080p difference from atop that high horse?

That is saying what they won't match. So if you had a WM coupon, they would not match it. It does not say they will not PM something that Target has a coupon for. The question is, since you have to go to customer service to get the PM *after* you make the purchase, how does it work? Will they return the items and resell them to you at the new lower price? If they do that, then it is very possible that the $10 (and maybe $8) coupons will come off as well and it could be difficult to get them to reapply the $10 Target coupon. If the register just somehow gives you a discount of the price difference, then you could be ok, unless the register apportions the $10 coupon across the 2 items.

BTW, Amazon dropped their price on Up to $19.99. So the combo price for both DVD's is now $32.98.

So what is WM's in-store price on Up going to be? Is it in a WM ad?

For anyone planning to do this deal, there is allegedly going to be a printable coupon for Up, supposed to be available sometime today:

http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/animatedfilms/up/couponoffer/

Update: the coupon is up! So it's now $28 off AC.

Will they accept all 3 coupons at once?

I remember there is some trick with using both Target and manufacturer coupons, you have to redeem one before the other

bloop said: Will they accept all 3 coupons at once? They should. The real question for me is what happens when you use them and then go to customer service to try to do the PM.

bloop said: Will they accept all 3 coupons at once?

My Target just accepted 4 coupons for this combo:

$10 off UP from link posted above
$10 off combo using Target coupon
$8 off Monsters Inc using coupon in post
$10 off combo coupon that is stuck to the back of Monsters Inc in store

$38 off total.. whoo hoo!

--> Couple of notes. I did not try a PM, but will go back later to see if I can work that angle (which would make this nearly free)
--> Also, all four coupons will not ring up if you only get these two movies. Best idea is to buy a couple more items you may need because there is a weird item to coupon ratio that must be met.....

I heard that the prices are already $19.99 for Up and $18.99 for Monsters Inc. at Target. Did you not find that to be the case??

I did not find Up movie on WalMart ad this week. Did I take a look at the wrong ad?

Has anybody had any issues printing the Target $10 coupon on a Windows 7 computer?
I was able to print the others but keep getting an error message trying to print
the Target coupon saying my system is not supported or something like that.

It does not work on my Windows 7 laptop. I had to print it out from OSX.

At a Los Angeles area Taarget:

Only TWO manufacturer's coupons can be applied to one transaction ($10 off Up, $8 off Monster's, and $20 off both- register only allowed two max).

Monster's Inc. was $26.99 and Up was $19.99. Subtotaled $16.98.

Does anyone know who I have to email at amaazon to get the coupons to apply?

Skipping 41 Messages...

I simply could NOT get my computer to cooperate and print out any of those coupons (though I can print most any other coupon under the sun--go figure ). To make matters even worse, I had already ordered Up from Amazon when I discovered this thread! So, I refused delivery of what I hoped was the right box (I got five that day ) Then I went back to Amazon and put Up, Monsters, Inc., and Cars into my cart, and plugged in the code PIXARBLU, which I got from fivetofive in another thread here.

I certainly didn't get as hot a deal as some of you...$3.xx out the door for two movies?? Outfreakingrageous!! But I did well enough that I'm happy. The math came out to this:

Up $19.99
Cars $17.49
Monsters, Inc. $21.49

Subtotal $58.97
Coupon $26.00
Total Pd. $32.97

I pay no tax, and get 'free' shipping as a Prime member, so my per movie cost was just under $11.00 each. Not too bad, coulda been better if my #$%**(*@ computer had cooperated!
