This is actually a pretty decent scope, but Not a high end scope. On clearance from SWFA. Shipping was $6 for me. Company is located in WI and has a killer warranty.

Newbie here - new to scopes - is this a variable 6X to 40X scope? Or is it fixed 40X? I know the 50 is the diameter in mm.
I'm thinking of purchasing a scope for a 30-06 for deer hunting. Good scope for this? I realize 40X is a bit much for hunting deer, but may be cool trying to hit targets at 200+ yrds.
Scopes for newbies (only if you give the OP a green)
The first number is the zoom so this a 6-24x zoom scope, the second number is the size of the end pointing down range so this is 50mm.
It really depends where your going to be hunting, if it's open brush land this might be ok but I doubt you'd want to run it at full zoom. You have a really hard time keeping this on a target at 24x from anything other then prone. At 6x it might be ok unless your in the heavy woods, then you may want a red-dot to a 4x tops.

I am looking at this for one of my boys for Christmas and I don't know much about guns. Would this fit on a lever action 30-30 with a right side bullet eject?
Should be fine if its a Marlin 336 - just check the top for grooves. I've got a similar scope on mine. You might need to buy the scope rings, it doesn't mention them in the product description. Safe hunting!
