Home Depot is offering a free Miter Saw Stand (Model AC9944 SKU 984386) with the purchase of one of these miter saws:
RIDGID 12in Sliding Compound Miter Saw Model # MS1290LZA SKU # 295598
or
Milwaukee 12" Sliding Miter Saw Model 6955-55 SKU 397698 (can't find it online at HomeDepot.com)

The Ridgid Saw is $549. There is a Ridgid Friends and Family Rebate HERE that offers a 20% rebate for purchases above $500. Though technically each offer says that it cannot be combined with other offers, I think the rebate would go through OK.

So for $549 - $109 rebate you get the saw and the stand. If you have a coupon to reduce the price of the saw, you can do even better. A 10% moving coupon would bring the saw down to $494.10. Add a small tool to get the total above $500 (rebate is only 15% for purchases $100 - $499) and you get the combo for $385!

The Milwaukee 6955-20 saw is on sale for $499(was $649), but no rebate that I know of. So with a 10% coupon $450 for the saw and stand. That price is a good price for that saw alone. I don'
t know how long the Milwaukee is on sale, so if you want that saw, you might want to act fast.

The free miter saw stand is obtained by scanning a coupon. There were pads of them near the miter saws. They are valid 11/2/09 through 12/31/09.

Actually I don't think the rebate will go through. All really depends on how the receipt shows the miter table.

I didn't buy one, but I think that the receipt will show a line entry for the stand and a credit for the stand from the coupon.

FYI HD wouldn't stack the 10% off coupon. So I ended up getting the Milwaukee and the Free Rigid MSUV. The Milwaukee saw has an electric startup so its starts soft unlike the Rigid from reviews I read. Rigid does however have lifetime on parts from what I read. Anyways total was $516 bucks.

I doubt that rigid will stack with the F&F 20% based that the receipt says free MSUV on it. Slick deal regardless. Milwaukee saw was on sale in NJ for 499.00 and the MSUV is $179.00 bucks. Nice how we in NJ pay an extra 80 bucks for the stand!

thanks again, also noticed that this HD I went to had plenty of the tear off coupons other one I went to only had the little sign. Head cashier also had to approve the free stand and she also called up corporate via her little phone.

After looking at the Rigid and the Milw for sometime, I decided to ask the HD guy for his option. He went through them then pulled a guy wearing a Rigid shirt to get his opinon. The Rigid guy told me the Milw is the best saw available at HD, comparing them again the Mikita, Rigid, Dewalt. The Milw collects over 70% of the dust, has digital adjustments, has a stainless steel lock mechanim, and the slides will not move. 'the slides will not move' is consistent with online reviews in which it appears that milwaukee sliders are the only ones that doesn't move. i had considered the hitachi, mikita, rigid and especially dewalt prior. thanks for the deal. i convinced the cashier to take my 10% lowes coupon (they have issues with the print outs...I told her i could get a real one at the post office). the rigid guy said the milw is on sale till 12/31. btw, the rigid guy works for a company that does all the manufacturing of ryobi, milwaukee, and rigid tools.

Looks like stacking the 10% coupon is YMMV. One person succeeded and another was shot down. Could each of you tell us what order you tried applying the coupons and what was the source of your 10% coupon? Sometimes it makes a difference. I am guessing that if you have a Lowes 10% coupon that requires a manual price adjustment, the best strategy would be to scan the miter saw stand coupon first, then present the competitor coupon for matching.
