Be kind, one of my first (maybe my first) new post.
Go to the apple site, go to store in the upper left corner, lower left under "special deals" click refurbished macs" If you're into Macs, you know this is a killer deal... actually looking for my first "Hot Deal" and get a t-shirt
The 8 and 16gb ipod touches are really good deals too at anywhere from 20-33% off.
I heard from the Apple CSR that all unopened purchases can be returned until January too, so do what I did- but it now and him and haw about it for the next two months.
The refurb macs come with the same one year warranty as the new ones. ALWAYS bought rerurb from them and never had a problem.

Dead.
Mac minis appear infrequently and briefly at Apple as refurbs. They sell out very quickly. There are none available at 5:22p PT (four minutes after you posted this). Also, you should put "refurb" in the title if the item is refurbished (as the minis were).

I've never heard of Apple shipping a scratched refurb. By all accounts their refurbs arrive in pristine condition.
I just got a MacBook Pro refrub today and I would challenge anyone to show how this is any different from the ones you buy in the store (other than having the software preinstalled and without the fancy Apple box) You have nothing to worry about.

I don't like the new macbooks (white ones) and now the only aluminum ones are the Pro.
My worry is before I ordered a refurb iPod and it had a couple scratches, what to do...

I have bought 3 Apple refurbs, a Macbook, Mac Pro and Mac Mini. All of them were in 100% perfect condition when I got them, not a scratch and ran problem-free.

I have purchased two Apple refurbs and as meticulous as I can be, I could not tell a difference.

It is extremely unusual for an apple refurb to look anything but brand new. They generally replace the casing as part of the standard refurb procedure. I don't know anyone that does refurbs like Apple, I rarely buy my macs any other other way.
hmm, i'm tempted. has anyone used one of these as an htpc? is the lack of true (audio and video) hdmi a problem? I'm debating whether to buy one of these (and use windows premium instead) or go for a dual core nettop w. ion (but no dvd or bluetooth) for about 130 less.
i know the dual core atom doesn't compare... but for an htpc the only thing i can think that will make a difference is if i encode shows into a different format.

I've been confused with folks posting about Chase CashBack and had to clarify -- it's not an instant CB, per se, it's Chase points that, once accumulated to the minimum 2,500, results in CashBack. There is a difference, there, esp. with purchases <$1000
I'm already in for the 2Ghz 2GB 320GB (received earlier this week) but I spotted 2.26 Ghz Minis with 2GB of RAM and 160 GB HDD's last night for $499.00.
