This is a starter kit comes with 2 Homeplug AV unit.

No new wiring! Don't need to mess with SSID or remember you passphrase. Just plug the Innoband HomePlug AV 200P-I1 into any wall power socket, connect a network cable, and data signals are automatically transmitted through the power lines. The 200P-I1 can be used to bridge Ethernet devices such as modems, routers, PCs, set-top-boxes, and game consoles, enabling users to share network access via existing in-home power lines. Once plugged into an Ethernet port on a router, the 200P-I1 allows people elsewhere in the house to share Internet access by using computers connected with a HomePlug compliant Powerline network adapter. Compliant with the latest HomePlug AV standards which support data speeds of up to 200Mbps, the 200P-I1 delivers the super-fast connectivity needed for High Definition home networks, enabling users to easily set up a data network accessible through a power socket and share bandwidth-consuming applications such as online games, IPTV and video-on-demand with family or friends all around the house. The Innoband HomePlug AV 200 Mbps Starter Kit is also compatible with Internet ready game console, Blu-ray player or TV gadgets (InfoLink(TM), MediaSmart TV, VIERA® Cast, NetCast(TM), ..., etc.) with an Ethernet port.

I'm not sure how well this stuff works. I've read tons of reviews and they are very mixed. I wound up going with a Wireless N dual band setup and love it.

I have a couple of homeplug 1.0 products, and they make high frequency noise and become hot when connected to power.
I'm wondering how the power saving feature works.

I actually use the Linksys PLK300 homeplug AV kit so that I could connect my wireless N dual band router more centrally in my home to improve it's range.

Not sure about innoband, but as long as you have good power lines, these can work as well as having a true wired connection. Definitely worthwhile for areas where wireless is unreliable.

Thanks OP ! Going to get one.
Homeplug 1.0 is very bad its worthless half of the time it does not work. Day and night difference when it comes to Homeplug AV 2.0 standard its for gaming and video steaming. I have one from netgear. The latest one offers the power saving. Supposedly when not in use it will go to standby mode taking less energy and read somewhere that the latest version has better performance. Hope that helps.

is it dead or what?
In any case, there is a trendnet powerline av adapter kit for $87 on Amazon:

Works for me. Added to cart at $99.99 and then apply coupon code "FO77V5QN" for total of $90.98 shipped.

Just dont expect to get anywhere near 200Mb/s out of these. Thats measured with an optimally sized UDP packet, which isnt the protocol you'll be using 99% of the time.

Add in some inefficiencies from your wiring, a little interference, and in the average home you'll be lucky to see 30-30Mb/s. Only a problem if you're doing backups, big file transfers or multiple HD video streams.

One hot deal to look for is routers with built in 200Mb/s homeplug AV. Zyxel has these kicking around. You can buy a pair of them, plug both into the wall, and they become 200Mb/s homeplug bridges with 4 port switches and integrated wireless. People seem to get confused or have a problem with buying more than one router, even though the cost per unit can be a lot less than buying just a single port homeplug bridge.

I've seen the zyxel homeplug integrated routers for <$50 a pop quite often. Bought a couple for $37 each shipped just last month.

200mb/s UDP with 80% packet loss is reality. translate that to tcp and you'll understand how slow it gets. don't even think of turning on the dyson

In for one. Thx OP.

I have one of these and get average rate about 30Mb/s even with the Vacuum on. as i understand it , they had problem with the older version that runs 85 meg the new version that runs 200 meg have greatly improved on noise, interference, and signal attenuation. The latest release of the 200 Meg supports slightly higher throughput rate and power saving where as the first generation does not .The first generation 200 meg i get average rate of 26Mb/s.

these work awesome...have been using mine (actiontec) for years...i have streamed 1080p flawlessly...

2 things to keep in mind...newer houses work better...
distance makes a big difference...my 1080p used to stutter when the 2 were far apart, but i was able to move one closer (but still different level) and it worked well...

am a big fan, but am a bigger fan of MoCA...

The Trendnet @ $86 is a HomePlug 1.0 (up to 85Mbps). The Innoband one is HomePlug AV based that supports up to 200Mbps.
