I just picked up a couple of 4 packs of FEIT CFL 13w (60w equivalent) at Costco in Norcal for $4.99 - $4 PG&E instant rebate = $0.99. PG&E is our local utility, so this deal should be available anywhere PG&E serves. Not too shabby for 25 cents a bulb. They also had PG&E instant discounts on other wattages, good deals but none quite so dramatic (other wattages around $1 a bulb, also floodlights and other types at higher costs but still with PG&E instant rebates).
I'll have to check this out, thanks OP. Not with the same utility, but hoping there's something similar.
BTW, we're pleased as punch with our Costco CFL's. Much better than the bunch from HD. Only one of about 20 have burnt out in maybe 18 months. They don't work in the cold, otherwise recommended.
Yeah I've never had a good experience with Feit. Their 4' shop bulbs seemed to burnout quicker, and their CFL bulbs always had that "wait a couple minutes until it reaches full brightness" issue.
In my house, every bulb is a CFL (~40). I have 4 Feit bulbs. All 4 have failed and been replaced under warranty and one of the replacements just failed the other day. There is no link to the fixture, age, or anything. I've had ONE non-Feit bulb fail out of the 40. IMHO buying these is a waste, their quality is very low. I plan on avoiding Feit and their housebrands.
I feel relieved to hear that everyone has same experience. I thought its just me. I purchase the FEIT flood lamp bulbs from costco and they seem to burn out in 3-6 months. And I always throw the receipt so no easy returns at even at costco...
I just purchased an R30 6 pack (ceiling light bulbs) and one burnt out in 1 month! (FEIT brand) Let's all alert Costco by returning the whole set when just one burns out (which I did) and at some point, costco corporate will stop purchasing from them. I've done my share of researching on the internets and discovered FEIT's quality control is poor. I guess it's more profitable to produce an inferior product and send out replacements via warranty (which most people don't take advantage of). My set also powers on very dim (some more so than others) and takes a whole 3 minutes to warm up to its brightest point. This also attests to their poor quality control!

Yikes, I thought this was a great deal and bought 3 packs. I'll definitely keep the receipt.
CF bulbs are not the same, you must check their color rating & other things. Those that are close to natural daylight are the best others just look spooky.
I've been getting FEIT bulbs in Chicago, Il for the last couple of years, they hand them out at the local alderman's office (2 or more at a time), and many fairs (health, kids, art, etc) around the City. I feel very fortunate, I've had some go out (< 3), but overall, replaced lights in 4 homes and have another 40-50 spare bulbs. Since I got them all for free, I can't complain.
