Nice deal. My suggestion for the future is best laptop with a WUXGA screen (1920 x 1200 resolution I believe.) These are hard to find so the people like me who want high-resolution laptops, even if they cost a little more, can jump on them quick!
Thanks! (from previous laptop round thread)

Today I purchased a

Dell Inspiron 15 (1545) Laptop
Refurbished
Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200
Windows Vista Home Basic
160 GB hard drive
3 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz (2 DIMMs)

For $333.24 shipped

This is my second refub from Dell. Software no problems. I also bought a scratch and dent desktop. No problem outside of the case having a scratch on it.

This is using at 15% off coupon on the Dell outlet web site.

Usually it seems their best deals are very early in the morning when their inventory gets released. I usually try around 6:30 CST.

Hope this helps someone!

Thank you for including WUXGA laptops in your searches. I recently had the chance of purchasing this Dell Vostro for $1367 w/ FS (strangely, I included a backpack too). Included a nice Blu-Ray burner even. Chickened out at the last minute because I didn't know if it was a good deal. I guess I blew it.

Link to specs

Intel C2D P8600
Win 7 Pro
4 GB 800MHZ
nVidia Geforce 9600M GS 512M
500GB SATA 7200RPM w Free Fall Sensor

The deal has since expired, unfortunately. For $1700 I probably could have bought a higher end processor, doubled the RAM and added a SSD.

The dm3-1030us at OfficeDepot.com for $499 after $50 MIR (minus 10% BCB) is pretty hot for a nicely configured laptop.

Anyone know about this laptop. It seems it is a new release not many review on the internet. How about the processor? Is this netbook kind of laptop or it is ok for medium laptop use, like movie, web, streaming, music.

One thing I noticed it does not have DVD/CD drive.

Mine's arriving today, so hopefully I'll be able to answer your questions tonight

BTW, the Neo X2 supports virtualization (which the Intel T6600 processors don't support), the system supports up to 8 GB, and the hard drive is 7200 rpm. Battery life is 'up to' 6 hours, so almost good for a coast to coast flight.

Already have an external USB DVD burner, so not having a built in one isn't a problem.

not sure how reliable/useful is this info, but http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
shows that the Neo X2 can't touch a T6600

The Neo X2 is dual 1.8Ghz vs the T6600 which is dual 2.2GHz, so I would expect it to perform better.

The Neo X2 L335 is more comparable to the U2300 processor in terms of performance and size of laptop where they're being seen (large netbook / small laptop). The U2300 supports VT, but the Intel chips have to rely on the manufacturer supporting VT in the BIOS (where many disable it). The Neo doesn't have this problem.

To tell you the truth, I'm disappointed with the dm3. The trackpad is centered with the chassis, not with the keyboard (it's not centered with the G/H keys, but skewed to the right). As I'm left-handed, that's a pain. Also, the trackpad is a fingerprint magnet, is 'sticky' (not smooth) and the mouse buttons have to be pressed pretty hard to register.

Another problem is that the primary labeling of the F1-F12 keys is for audio/brightness/etc controls, not labelled as 'F1' to 'F12'. In one evening, I got tired of having to count over from the left to find the 'F8' key on the keyboard (low-light room).

Equipment-wise, it's very nice. Performance is OK, but expected it to feel faster.

Only matters if you need the power of a T6600...which most people don't. If these processors cost the same, then this would matter...but of course the intel is much more.

I bought one of these a couple days ago and to me it seems to be about halfway between a Netbook and regular Laptop. The processor is way more powerful than a netbook, the memory at 4GB a lot bigger (and 8GB max). The Screen bigger at 13". But no DVD is same as Netbook and size is about halfway between netbook and laptop. Seems to work well for everything I've installed on it. I hope to do some audio and video conversions on it and it will probably be a little slow compared to my desktop, but way faster than an Atom based netbook.

Anybody see any good deals on 11.6" netbooks, preferbly with Windows 7 and a faster processor?

I like this one. 11.6 inch screen. Only $299.

This isn't $499 AR. It is more like $599 AR. At least that's what the website says... Am I missing something?

Which is better buy the one at Wal-Mart (HP) for $298 or the Acer Aspire at Best Buy for $329 (-$20 Pay pal)
HP 15.6" Pavilion G60-519WM Entertainment Laptop PC with Intel Celeron Processor 900 & Windows 7 Home Premium
Acer - Aspire Laptop with AMD Athlon™ Single-Core Processor (Best Buy)
I will use lap top for the basics - internet, photos, word processing, e-mail.
Any advice appreciated, I haven't been able to find these two processors compared.

I would personally rather have the 45nm HP Pavilion with Celeron 900 2.2Ghz, 800 fSB and 1MB of L2 Cache over the 65nm Athlon TF-20 (1.6GHz, 667 FSB, 512L2 & L3). While the 4500M graphics card on the HP is noticeably slower then the 3200HD graphics on the Acer, unless you are gaming, this should not be much of an issue.

I started looking at this laptop and really liked it at first, but stopped because the laptop I'm looking for is for my wife, not for me, and a more mainstream, powerful computer would fit her needs better than a ultra-thin-and-light barebones PC.

Someday, when they make this model with the nvidia ION chip, I'll be first in line to buy one. Until then, I'm leaning more towards the DV4 models (which are slightly larger but have faster CPUs).
