Um, yeah. LED is great if you want halos around your movies and TV shows that have bright objects against a dark background. You do understand the limitations of the currently-implemented LED matrix tech, right?
Quality plasmas like Panasonic and Pioneer are still king for picture quality. Now power consumption...that's another matter.

And even thats not really an issue anymore. My Panasonic 54" Plasma (P54G10) is rated for ~600W max, but averages an actual usage of about 280W on the energy star compliance test. A 52" Sony XBR LCD averages about 250W. The rating on the back of the set is the max rating, not the typical. My guess is plasmas probably have a high startup current due to the HV supply. That would result in a high max rating, but after a few seconds the supply caps are charged and power settles down to a reasonable level.
