Motorola Droid (80.17kB)

It appears as though this amazing phone will also be sold at WalMart on Friday, November 6th for a discounted price. The $100 rebate is instantly taken off.

The options available:

$188 - 2 Year Agreement and Data Plan are required

$298 - 1 Year Agreement and Data Plan are required

$500 - Phone Only (to activate you will need the data plan)

Info pulled from THIS Link.

It's not a super hot deal being you can get it for $200 @ Best Buy (no rebate either). Personally I'd pay the extra cash and avoid WalMart. But it seems to be the best deal going so far. Do with it what you will.

hmm. I really like the 1 year agreement option. I usually like to get a new phone every year and you can probably sell this phone for at least $200 in one year, who knows what it will go for in two years.

So your iPhone multi-tasks? And runs on the Verizon network? Cool!

If I buy this phone...open a 2 year account with Verizon and cancel within a couple of days, am I correct in assuming that I'll be responsible for an ETF of $175. + $199. (cost) = $375 at which point I'll have the phone which I can then use with my PagePlus account? Will the ESN be compromised if I do it this way?
I currently have the Unlimited T&T with 20mb of data...any idea of what moderate emailing and browsing will utilize mb-wise on a monthly basis...I previously had an Iphone and AT&T provided no usage statistics.

How much is the data plan? I have an enV right now and my 2-year agreement is almost up. If I grab this thru Verizon, I gotta wait on a tacky rebate. I'd much rather jump on this on Fri.

make sure verizon do not charge you for the discount they offered assuming you will stay for 2 years. In that case you might end up paying $300 for the phone. My 2 Cents...

if you grab this thru VZW then you also get the NE2 $100 rebate, so you're saving a little less than $100 when you purchase through them with NE2

You'll burn through the 20mb of data on Page Plus very quickly. You'd probably need to limit any and all data to WiFi if you do that.

My understand is that w/ Verizon, you have to keep the phone past the return period (14 days I think?) in order to cancel and still keep the phone. If you cancel before that you'd be expected to either return the phone or pay the full purchase price on it.

Also, you'd have to do this very soon as Verizon is raising their ETF to $350 on smart phones.

How is your signal strength on your iPhone? I switched from my Verizon plan to AT&T to get an iPhone. I enjoy the phone, but reception is so much worst than my Verizon was. I'm a avid mountain sports enthusiast and my iPhone is terrible in mountain resort communities. I can't wait for my contract to expire, so I can get back on Verizon and to try the Droid. What good is a phone, if you can't use it as a phone?

My iPod Touch does both of those things. It's jailbroken and I contactly multi-task apps. I also use WMWIFIRouter and the iPod is able to use Verizon's network.

That being said, I'm still buying a Droid.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think the ipod touch is a phone. and by using the verizon network i'm pretty sure he means to send/receive calls and data directly on the device.. using a phone on the verizon network as a wifi hotspot for another device which is not does not mean that other device is running on the verizon network. not putting you down, but just being critical
