- Select Current Verizon Wireless Customer or New Verizon Wireless Customer - Choose Droid by Motorola or Droid Eris by HTC - Data plan required - 2-year contract required - As always, Wirefly will come after you if you cancel within 6 months - Wirefly does not collect sales tax in most states
To get this price on a single line within a family plan, you need to call 888-WIREFLY.
thank you! the verizon website only allows the droid with individual (not family) plans of $129.99/month each. Insane. Good to see the lower plans on wirefly.
ETA, does anyone know how much tax will be on a $149.99/month family plan? I never had a plan that expensive so I'm not sure. Thanks!!

is there any way to keep your current number from a different carrier if you buy thru this site?

There was a big class action lawsuit against them for rebate fraud. I think they settled by promising not to offer rebates anymore.
Another scam they sometimes pull is advertising heavily discounted phones, but then requiring customers to buy super-expensive rate plans to qualify for the phone price. For the Droid, they appear to be offering the full range of plans, though.
Didn't look into it much but the default plan for the droid was the non-data plan ... if you choose that one trying to save money you might be in for a big surprise at the end of the months since it's $1.99 per MB
INGlewood78 said: I've heard bad things about wirefly. Has anyone bought through them before?Yes. Multiple times. Honestly it's the only way I'll buy a cell phone now. Note that Wirefly runs the online stores for BestBuy, RadioShack, Newegg, and many others. They are big.

Not quite, I was surprised this morning as I tried to add it to my cart at the Verizon store that it doesn't work with the $69.99 text/talk/data plan. You have to pick the $40 voice plan and the $30 data plan. The $30 data plan on its own doesn't come with unlimited messaging like the $69.99 combo does :/
So since this phone can run background apps, is there a good IM client that will run all the time and keep you online? What else would you want to run in the background....hmmm..
Looks like Verizon's online store is offering free activation
Wirefly is good for those that is willing to sign up for 900 mins plan for $59.99 (or 450 mins w/ unlim text mesg). With Droid you'll need $29.99 data plan. your monthly fee will be 59.99 + 29.99 =89.98
Since I only need 450 mins @ 39.99, My monthly fee will be $39.99 + $29.99 = $69.99 ( $20 saving a month to go with Verizon directly. You can't downgrade your plan for at least 6 mons with Wirefly. $20 x 6 = $ 180 extra that I will be paying.)
$149.99 + $35 activation fee = $184.99
Verizon on-line store $199.99 + tax ~50 for CA. + free activation = $249.99 ($ 65 difference) ($180-$65 = $115 savings to go with verizon on-line store)
BTW, saw the droid at Verizon store.... it's awesome .
Picked up my two pre-ordered Droids from BB today (one for me, one for my wife). Pretty awesome phone. The display is fantastic, it's fast and responsive, the sliding display clicks nicely into place, and the keyboard is a lot better than my old Treo 700P. To those who said the higher resolution doesn't make a difference in real life - sorry, it does. Holding the phone in the widescreen direction, I'm able to surf the Fatwallet forums full-width with no problems whatsoever.
Did I mention that the GPS navigation is awesome?

I've had the worst experience when I ordered from Wirefly. Ordered 3 phones and none show up after 3 weeks. UPS tracking showed item damaged during shipping and all were return to Wirefly warehouse. Wirefly order tracking show 2 return and 1 missing. All 3 were shipped together, I don't know how one can be missing. Mean while AT&T activated my phone and I recvd first months' phone bill and noticed someone started to use my missing phone. I try to cancel contract w/ AT&T but was told phone has to be cancel thru. vendor(Wirefly). but Wirefly wouldn't cancel cause they claim they didn't recvd all phones. I try phone/chat w/ Wirefly and they kept on lying to me my order will be cancel in 48 hours. I was back and forth w/ Wirefly and AT&T for 3-4 months til it was finally cancelled and AT&T to clear my acct. I will Never again try to save a few bux and order from wirefly.

From their website, it seems you can change to the cheapest plan which is 39.99. And they do not charge tax ($50 for CA). but yes, there is 35 activation fee. So you could actually just paid 149.99 +35 = 184.99 instead to verizon on line which is 249.99. Please let me know if I'm correct.

Verizon's web site is kinda funny...
Looks like there are several ways to order a phone. I went to the Home page then go to phone & accessory, then click on cell phones, then go PDA & Smartphone category to pick Motorola Droid, then select my plan, when Select Features (3rd step), on the bottom right hand corner there is a mesag shows Free Activation & Free Overnight Shipping.

Looks like $39.99 is available for new activation, but not for contract extension. Pretty good deal for new people who wants to join verizon.

Typical Wirefly scam. They manipulate the rate plans to boost their profits. If you buy direct from Verizon, you should be able to get the $40 rate and save a lot of money.

I purchased this for 149.99 and it has already shipped from wirefly. The price on wirefly now dropped to $99. What charges would I assume for canceling my service from verizon 2 year contract besides the $175 ETF. I heard wirefly also has ETF fees of its own, is that true?

Yap! Company like Wirefly receive incentive/commission, when they activate a line for company like Verizon. They sell the phone cheaper, and make less on each phone. However, when enough people sign service through them, they still make $$.
I won't cancel service with them, but since they advertise
