This topic was initially posted here but this new method is a bit different and the other post was confusing so I decided to clarify a few things, since this new method is much better.
smart subs is offering 4 AAA eneloop batteries for $6.94 with enrollment into one of the following programs: Real SuperPass, Real Broadband, or GameFly. The best part about this deal, however, is that each is independent of the other. Thus you can order one set of AAA batteries and be enrolled in Real SuperPass, a second set and be enrolled in Real Broadband, and a third set and be enrolled in GameFly. You have to order seperately though, i.e., 3 times. Using the promo code 3522YNX drops the price of each 4 pack by $5.00 to $1.94. Thus the total is $5.82 for the 12 AAA batteries.
Now you have to cancel each subscription, but you can do it immediately, and the Real Superpass and Real Broadband can be cancelled together in one 5 minute phonecall to 1-206-674-2650 after you've made your first two orders. The GameFly membership can be cancelled online with no phone call, however, its not available as a subscription until you have been signed up for the Real SuperPass and Real Broadband subscriptions.
So to recap you can get 12 AAA eneloop batteries for the price of (1) $5.82, (2) a 5 minute cancellation phone call to REAL, and (3) a 2 minute online cancellation at GameFly. You can also get 12 AA eneloop batteries for $11.82 using the same process. I have depleted my email/address/CC number combinations but it seems like the only variable is email addresses. Good luck!
Ive done it many times, and each time its slightly different. What I did the last time was, add one pack of batteries to the cart, apply the code, check out, and input my information. After doing it, you'll get an order confirmation in your email. Then you go back to the site, add one pack of batteries, apply the code, check out, and input the same information. The first order confirmation would be for, say Real Pass, the second would be for Broadband, and if you did the process again it should be for GameFly.
The first time I actually added the AA and AAA batteries, and they signed me up for SuperPass and Broadband. When I tried it again with the same info, they said sorry you are not eligible for Real try GameFly. Then when I tried it again with all different info it worked as described above.

I've read reviews that smartsubs has difficulty shipping quickly. I'd like to hear your experiences before I bite.
I entered my normal junk email only email address. for some reason the superpass refused to accept that email address, and smartsubs redirected me to the GameFly instead. I guess i won't even need to call?
You guys using IE, Firefox, or Chrome? IE and FF won't let me check out, keep telling me that I/m putting my Zip Code, Card Number, & Expiration Date in wrong...?
I got one pack of AAA and one pack of AA (using two different email address). Can't get the third - it's not giving me GameFly option, ironically the one that I'm actually curious about doing a free trial for.
I also tried what bmobrien suggested a few posts up, but I got the same error message Dougmeister got when I tried to go through it the second time with all the same info.
Just called to cancel my broadband essential and superpass. CSR called me out and asked why I'm canceling even though I hadn't even tried Superpass... so he gave me an extra month + $30 credit. I used the $30 credit to download free mp3s, called back and the 2nd CSR canceled it without much trouble. Thanks OP! (still can't get GameFly offer)

Placed an order on Oct 30 for 4 AAAs. No confirmation email ever. Cannot check order status without the order number (never provided). There was a pending CC authorization; it quietly disappeared this morning. I bet they will show better promptness and attention to charge me for whatever crap they subscribed me for. Wonder if they succeed, with virtual discover CC info I used.

Yeah, I have ordered several times, and sometimes you get a generic one line message saying something to the effect of "your order has been received, we will notify you etc. etc." Those types of orders dont seem do go through. I have found that its only when you get an email right after you order that it goes through. I guess it could be a problem with repeat shipping/billing address or CC# or IP address, who knows.
On another note, I received my first set of batteries. Looks like smartsubs ordered in from Adorama and had it delivered to me. I have about 5 more orders confirmed, so we shall see what happens.

it charge me 6.94 + 0.94 resulting in a total of 1.94 for pack of 4 battery.
Your Order Is Not Complete Our records show that you do not qualify for the subscription service included with your purchase due to the email address you provided.
To complete your order, please choose one of the services shown below. If no selection is made, your order will not be processed. Resubmit order with GameFly
After resubmitting with GameFly, I got the following message:
We are sorry, but we cannot process your order for the subscription service you chose. We appreciate your interest and apologize for any inconvenience.

I didn't even place one order yet...don't see why my first email address wouldn't work.
Now I've got the error message mentioned above. Funny, because my virtual credit card number already took a hit in the amount of the batteries. Time to dispute.
Payment Processing Error Your order was not processed There was a problem processing your credit card information. Please verify that the following were entered correctly: Zip Code Card Number Expiration Date If you repeatedly see this message, please call your bank or credit card company to verify the billing address is correct.

Mine arrive via Amazon yesterday. I was confused since I hadn't ordered anything from Amazon, at least nothing of that size. There are a bunch of other cheap products on that site and the $5 code seems to still be working so I might do this a few more times.
Got one of my packs of AAs from Adorama today. Took me a moment to figure out what it was since I've never ordered anything from Adorama before.

bmobrien, have you actually received more than 3 orders (of batteries or whatever) from smartsubs?
I was debating yesterday whether to try to place an order for a hard disk from smartsubs -- they tried to enroll me in Real Broadband again (no way I could get GameFly, the only thing (of 3 listed in the OP) I've never got a trial through smartsubs), and the terms for that read "only one free trial per customer" or something close. So I suspected they could either cancel my order a month later, or actually charge for broadband something subscription; did not finish placing the order.
yeah, ive received about 50 batteries with various address/email/CC variations.

Thanks. Will look again into this option. Were you able to (successfully) combine the $5 off code with bing 14% CB?
Edited to add: my battery orders (2 -- 1 each for AA and AAA) placed on Nov 16 appear to be shipped (got email). That was my last, and the only successful order. Used citi virtual CC (Visa) that time, plus IExplorer under Windows XP. Unsuccessful orders were placed via Firefox/Linux, using Discover or Chase MC. For some of unsuccessful ones (not all) I linked to smartsubs from bing. There was no bing CB when I placed the successful orders; went to smartsubs directly then.

How do I cancel the Real Superpass? I got an e-mail receipt that says I'm signed up, but I don't have an account number or a password to log in to the Superpass.
